Behavior/Discipline @ WWMS

Recently saw a string of posts on the WTHI's Facebook page about the current behavior/discipline at Woodrow Wilson Middle School and it sounds a bit out of control.

I'm a parent of possible future WW students and am greatly concerned.

Does anyone know if this is an isolated incident or a regular occurrence.

I have kids at WW and some of the shit those kids get away with is bs. I have been dealing with some jerks that have been threatening my son for the past three years and nothing ever seems to get done by the deans. Luckily I have a teacher on my side who is as tired of it as I am and has been stepping in. It seems as though while some kids get in trouble for stupid shit some of the kids truly acting inappropiately and putting other kids in actual danger are getting away with it. I know I am not the only parent to get tired of dealing with the school and some of us have made the decision to get higher ups and police involved when neccessary.

I had it with Vigo county school! We as parents transferred our kids to a different county! It was the best choice we made!

I will NEVER, and I repeat NEVER sub there again. I was treated with the utmost disrespect from the administration after seeking assistance with a difficult student.

Excuse me for sending a student to the office after he refused to work then flipped me off.

The vice principle basically chuckled and said, "boys will be boys".

My nephew said he heard she was retiring. Who knows, maybe they'll replace her with someone who actually has a soul.(ovaries are optional)

Why hasn't anyone said anything about their general music class going through 4 teachers this year? They finally just dropped the class and those students now have gym 5 days a week. You are right about the schools lack of discipline. Mr. Fox was the dean when I was there, if you even looked at him wrong he would drag your butt to his office. He made the strongest delinquents cry their butts off all the way back to class! I know the dean now, he was a gym teacher back then. I think he's a nice guy, but none of those delinquents fear him. If all they do is slap a kid on the wrist, what do they expect? As far as subs go, I feel sorry for them. I have gotten a few emails from teachers who had their classes destroyed and kids walking out. I wouldn't want to sub there, especially if the school doesn't back them up. BTW there's word circulating that this is the principals last year there. She needed to retire a few years ago anyways. Hopefully they get a new principle with a back bone that's not afraid of these little punks.

Had a remarkably similar situation a few weeks ago. I believe the teachers try, but are not backed by the principal, vice principal, or dean. This happened to be a young man who was chronically in trouble for fighting and being smart mouthed to adults. He blatantly and loudly called me every foul name known to mankind. This was inthe hall and thank goodness a teacher stepped in and told him to go to the dean. I saw him later in the day and he just smirked at me. Nope, will not be a substitute at that house of horrors again.

Last year my sons English class had 4 or 5 different teachers. There are physical fights there all the time. Its just ridculous there anymore.

That's funny.... My class was the first one to have Fox, and I think a dad or two made him cry. Lol. He was nothing compared to Whitlock.

"Dr." Pitts is a joke. She should have retired YEARS ago. Completely out of touch with reality and any sort of since with how to properly run a school.

Any word on who's taking her place when she finally does the staff/students/community a favor and steps down?

Word has it-
Some kids got caught smoking some reefer this morning. They spent all of 20 minutes with the dean and were sent to their next class with nothing but a slap on the wrist!

Cops were at Honeycreek yesterday busted kids with pot.

They have zero tolerance for WHITE kids. If a black student does anything wrong they don't get punished.

WW doesn't have to be the new Chauncy Rose if steps are taken to prevent it. It's easy to get children under control, it's all about your approach. Administration can only do so much with out of control kids, and they would be so out of control If they had the right balance of discipline and control in the classroom combined with a genuine care for the student body.
There are many more kids at Sarah Scott who could be acting the way some of the kids at WW are, but the overall atmosphere of the school and the way it's ran, really minimizes all of those unnecessary problems.
As a sub at both schools, I have never encountered such issues that it's a nightmare to sub at WW. It's up to the adults to shape the environment for these kids so that these issues do not exist. Of course there will always be problems, but come on.....it should never get this out of hand no matter what.
