So these two groups are going to give people $100 for every firearm turned over to them with the hope of "making children safe."

How the HELL does having law abiding citizens turn over legally acquired firearms accomplish ANYTHING? The only that will do is make children and citizens less safe. Are the criminals going to turn over their firearms?

When someone breaks into my house, I'd much rather have my Glock as opposed to a phone to call police. They'll take 15 minutes to help me, a bullet will take .015 seconds.

First I would like to say we should be able to have whatever type of gun we want in what ever number we want. But some people have guns that don't want them are afarade of them this makes it easy to turn in the guns with out fear of the guns falling into the wrong hands.
They are NOT taking guns away from anyone.

History does in fact repeat it would seem. Pretty soon they will be going door to door to confiscate guns by force. Anyone think that it can't happen here?
Just ask Russia or Germany. This wouldn't be the first time the law has betrayed the public trust on constitutional issues.

$100?....Really?....last time I bought a gun it was ALOT more than $100.
It is going to be intresting to see who shows up with guns to turn in, and will they be checking serial #s to see if the guns are hot?

This is just the start of it. They are going to start using this to say "look the people don't wont their guns they are bringing them in" and then the new laws will start. And from there it will snowball. We will lose the 2nd amendment and then the 1st amendment will be next. Give just a little and the will take it all. Watch and see.

Good question on whether they will check serial numbers, and I'd assume they will. What's scares me is places like New York have passed laws requiring handguns be turned in or sold out of state by next year. Whether volunteer or forced, private citizens need guns for personal protection at least, and to protect home and country in the most extreme case (no I'm not a nut who thinks America will collapse soon but it is almost inevitable eventually).

I have to admit I was one of those nervous nellies, but then, common sense took over. We may be labeled kooks and extremists; but there have been a few meme’s going around that are also pretty common sense–if the government can’t find a “mere” 11 million illegals to round up and deport, how are they going to find all of our firepower? I have also maintained repeatedly, America is still the stubborn, obstinate, stick our chins out and dare you to punch us country we know and love. I’m one of those people that if you TRY to order me to do something, I’ll simply laugh in your face and do exactly the opposite. I don’t take orders. I have a feeling the majority of us American “scrappers” are the same way. I also feel stinky has seriously underestimated the American population with his stance on so many things, and the giant is slowly stretching and awakening. He WILL have a comeuppance and it won’t be pretty. We are not a beat down third world, no matter how much he wishes it. We are not “tameable” or “controllable”. He WILL find that out.

If anyone doesn't want their guns and the first place they take them is a police buyback program then that person is a moron.

Most gun shops will legally buy used guns and pay dollars for them instead of gift cards.

If you want to sell a gun and you are too timid to sell it yourself then take it to a gun store first. If you can't get at least $100 out of it there then take it to the buyback and get the guaranteed $100 in gift cards but only do that as a last resort or if you know your gun is worth less than $100.

Yeppers. you should hear some of the things that the local police are saying about their distaste for the 2nd amendment! It's all about power to them. but if they think that they are going to go door to door and confiscate guns then I HIGHLY doubt that they will succeed judging by the way they have handled the the drug problem in Vigo County, and even if they do then a my friend Benny Franklin could make the officer omit my guns from his police report, it's worked with traffic tickets for me personally before.

Not to downplay any of the other posters comments, but your post is the most logical and level headed one on here. How could anyone argue with this?

Don't know. Do you have quality goods or just trash? Police buybacks are a last resort. SBS's are not necessarily always illegal and there are some good quality ones on the market.

I don't sell any of my guns, especially to some liberal bullshit stunt like a buy back program, they're too much fun. Besides, the one I mentioned definitely doesn't meet the requirements that you're referencing.
