Forest fire fighters altruistic slaves?

So the question is, do these forest fighters get a decent wage and living standards… a career.
Why do we always make heroes out of the mindless slaughter of dead men?

'slaughter of dead men'?

unlike those working at Dirty Bombs (nuke plants to ewe) who get paid Too much and endanger us all and don't care, firefighters truly are altruistic heros trying to save us FROM danger
Unlike fires, nuke plant problems often mean lots of radiation leaks- something that can't just be 'put out' but takes Hundreds of f*ing Years to 'die down'

////
Death of 19 firefighters in Arizona begs the question: Why do we keep putting out forest fires in the first place?

"At 6 p.m. Monday, federal officials took command of the fire from Arizona forestry officials, meaning firefighting efforts will be directed by the U.S. Forest Service. The shift makes the fire a “Type 1” incident, which will bring in the most experienced teams and potentially more resources."

So the fire response was run by inept political cronies…

They are very well paid.

And we make heroes of people who die doing things that require courage to do. They are dead. Why mock the way we remember the dead? After all it is not like they were bad people like Trayvon.

No. And they were all volunteers and generally loved being firefighters. It was an honorable endeavor sought out by brave young men who wanted to serve us.

Nineteen members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, part of the Prescott Fire Department, lost their lives Sunday, June 30th, while battling the 2,000-acre Yarnell Hill fire that ignited Friday south of Prescott.

pay is $30,000 to $55,000...

Prescott has the only municipally financed hotshot team, which is part of its fire department.

Why? Oh yeah. Yesterday I could not spell scholar, but today I are one.
A bunch of guys were killed doing their job. Show some class for a change will ya? Instead of trailer park intellectualism.

The roof on your trailer is leaking. Go stop the dribble. I mean drivel. Whatever. Lack of "class" is apolitical anyway.

Sounds like it was a cult?

“It was everything to him. Outside of the love he shared for his family members, hotshot firefighting was his life,” his wife said.“He had his priorities in line, but when he was there, he would tell me,‘They say jump and I’d say, how high.’ Their main goal was to save lives.
