Canada foils 'al-Qaeda inspired' terror attack on train

"Canada's authorities say they have arrested and charged two people with conspiring to carry out an "al-Qaeda inspired" attack on a passenger train.
At a news conference, the authorities said the suspects Chiheb Esseghaier, 30, and Raed Jaser, 35, were arrested in Montreal and Toronto on Monday.

They allegedly planned to derail a VIA passenger train in the greater Toronto area. It was not clear when.

The suspects will now appear in court on Tuesday for a bail hearing.

'Strong resolve'
The suspects had sought to target "a specific route, but not necessarily a specific train", the RCMP said.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said the surveillance operation leading to the arrests of the two suspects was "a result of extensive collaborative efforts".

They said the two men were not Canadian citizens and were supported by "al-Qaeda elements in Iran" but there was no evidence of state sponsorship."

This is a strange statement...

"They said the two men were not Canadian citizens and were supported by "al-Qaeda elements in Iran" but there was no evidence of state sponsorship."

So the FBI helps Canada catch their "Al Qaeda elements in Iran" but miss our "Al Qaeda elements in Iran" in the Boston Marathon.

The Canadian investigation was going on since last August...

The problem with the mainstream media is they need lawyerly criteria to get news in the air and they won't take chances with ruining their public credibility...plus piss off the business interest that supports the networks.

So a lot gets kicked out and it takes days for the story to get vetted by the big wigs and higher executives...

We should declare war on Iran.

Yea, but what evidence do they have to rule out state sponsorship...

Argument from ignorance

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search

"Absence of evidence" redirects here, also see Evidence of absence and Argument from silence

John Locke (1632- 1704) who introduced the term Argumentum ad Ignorantiam.[1]
An argument from ignorance, also known as argumentum ad ignorantiam or "appeal to ignorance" (where "ignorance" stands for: "lack of evidence to the contrary"), is an inference that a proposition P is false from the fact that P is not proved to be true or known to be true.[2][1] Arguments from ignorance are based on the absence of evidence and may fail because the lack of evidence for P does not prove P to be false.[3][4]

As an example scenario is of a man sitting in a warehouse with a tin roof and when he hears no sound of raindrops, he assumes that it is not raining, without looking outside for any evidence of rain.[5] Here ignorance about a particular form of evidence for rain (the noise) is used to assume a lack of rain; but the conclusion may fail if it is raining so softly that no noise is heard by the man.[5]

The statement "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" has been used in fields such as epistemology, medical research, archeology and criminalistics, where it is taken as an axiom that the lack of evidence that a person was present at a scene does not imply that they were not there.[6][7][8][9]

Is Obama going to take the word of Iran when they say we had rough elements in our country who acted without our government's permission...but we are not going to give you the veracity to know the truth.

Just like Bush, in these kinds of countries, you are never going to be able to develop the truth to take national action...

Iran Rejects Canadian Terrorism Charge

By ALAN COWELL

LONDON — Iran on Tuesday strongly rejected Canadian police claims that a planned terrorist attack to derail a passenger train was linked to Al Qaeda elements on its soil, saying there was “no shred of evidence” to substantiate the claim, reports by Iranian state media said.

Speaking at a scheduled news conference, Ramin Mehmanparast, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, accused Canada of hostility toward his country, according to the Press TV satellite broadcaster.“The Islamic Republic of Iran is the biggest victim of terrorism, but the extremist administration of Canada has put Iranophobia on its agenda over the recent years,” he said.

The Canadian police said on Monday that there was no indication of state sponsorship by Iran of the suspected conspiracy. But, announcing the arrest of two men, Assistant Commissioner James Malizia said that the suspects had received “direction and guidance” from “Al Qaeda elements” located in Iran.

He declined to explain how the link to Al Qaeda had been made. The men were accused of plotting to attack a train operated by Via Rail Canada, the government-owned rail system, within Canada.

The suspects were identified as Chiheb Esseghaier, 35, who has been living in Montreal, and Raed Jaser, 30, of Toronto. The police said the men were not Canadian citizens, but declined to identify their nationalities or to describe their immigration status in Canada.

According to the Mehr news agency, Mr. Mehmanparast said Canada, which severed diplomatic relations with Iran last year, had produced “no shred of evidence regarding those who’ve been arrested and stand accused.”

Terrorism experts have often said that predominantly Shiite Iran has little in common with Sunni-led Al Qaeda.“Al Qaeda’s mind-set is by no means congruent with the ideology of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Mr. Mehmanparast said.

Iran opposed “any kind of violent action that endangers lives,” the spokesman said, while “in recent years, Canada’s radical government has put in practice a project to harass Iran and it is clear that it has pursued these hostile actions.”

Canada broke its diplomatic links to Iran in September over several issues, including Iran’s disputed nuclear program, its hostility toward Israel and what Canada labeled Iranian support for terrorist groups. At that time, Canada’s foreign affairs minister, John Baird, called Iran “the most significant threat to global peace and security in the world today.”

So it's time to throw 100 cruise missiles at Tiran... hit their national symbols. I could make a case the Boston Marathon is a big religious symbol for the USA.

If they say boo after that, then hit them with 100 times the 100 cruise missiles...
