The teabaggers are totally a product of the rich.
Here is your chance. What special tax breaks "to the rich and businesses" would you claw back. Please be specific.

on the local front, how' about we eliminate tax breaks on homes assessed at greater than $350,000 regardless of low income status. How about we increase the required acreage to 25 acres for the farm tax status (it's 10 now). How about any couple living together for greater than five years must use combined income when applying for income sensitive breaks and assistance. Would you like to hear more?

Haha! First, the tax breaks for income taxes was the idea of and the creation of the liberal democrats in Vermont. I don't think that is one you meant to tackle was it. And while on the subject how do you get around the fact that an owner of a home worth $350k (not very great) who is retired has a low income. Should he have to sell his home.
Second, the farm subsidy called current use is another liberal democrat protection scheme. I say get rid of all of it and let the market set the rates and uses of the property. Why subsidize farmers in Vermont? They are all pretty wealthy.

Third, all the programs like food stamps and welfare and housing assistance are supposed to count all the income in the household. It is fraud and lax enforcement of it that it the problem. I agree we should crack down on it. And how is that a tax break for the "rich" you originally complained about.

Lastly, give me some more of those tax breaks for the "rich and businesses" that you want to get rid of.

No. For the SNAP program, income is the ONLY thing that counts. Assets like bank accounts and property are not included.
My next door neighbor was on the SNAP program and applied for disability. She was one of the 20% who was approved on the first attempt, so she was indeed disabled. She got a lump sum payment for the time she became disabled up to the time she was approved. She got something like $20,000. She reported it to Montpelier and was told that money was considered an asset, not income, and she could remain on the program. She cut up her "food card" that day.
You didn't say anything about assets, which I agree with. You only mentioned combining income. Which they are already are supposed to be doing but don't.

How is abuse of the SNAP program related to tax giveaways to the "rich"?

The way to fix the 47%ers is to raise our incomes so we bitch like hell over the amount of taxes we pay...

It would also be a greate way to fix the USA too?

Obama has already fixed that Mike. He is making the 47% pay more taxes through the higher insurance premiums and the penalty tax. Now you freeloaders have some skin in the game and will start rethinking electing tax and spend liberals every chance you get.

You can't work at a Walmart once you have been fired from a Walmart, Mike. Go ahead and apply for a job there and see for yourself.

$350,000 ?? how about $250,000 ??

minimum farm gross income requirements should be raised so only real working farms qualify for tax breaks.

Can anybody give us a list of "tax breaks" they get that we regular people are not allowed to have?
And why do people who are in the 47% of Americans who pay no income tax at all complaining about somebody who gets a tax break?
.. Let's say I live in CT but want to buy a vacation home here. Instead of taking out a mortgage on the property I am buying, I take a second mortgage out on an apartment building that I own and was previously paid off and use that money to pay for my new investment property which I will rent out a couple weeks a year to family when I am not using it. Because the apartment building is a business, I can take a business deduction on on the mortgage interest. Here is the nifty thing, I can do this again and again and again....it's all legal.

For argument sake I live in CT, I want to buy a boat or RV or whatever. I decide to buy my new toy in NH because they don't have sales tax, I bring the toy to VT and keep it at my vacation home and never bring it to CT. I have just legitimately avoided ever paying sales taxes to CT, and Vermont law allows me to register it without paying any sales tax to VT. It's not about being rich people it's about being educated in tax law.

I was fired five times.

Management treated their employees so inhumanly when I got there...I tried to behave myself for my family. I just couldn't put up with it.

Than a statewide rate isn't acceptable and it should be by county.

Maybe exempt the first $100,000 of value from taxes and start phasing out the exemption at $250,000 and have it vanish at $350,000 with some sort of county variation factored in.

If the first $100,000 was exempt the income sensitivity break could be eliminated. Poor people shouldn't be living in expensive housing in the first place.
