Dummerston looking into solar power
Selectboard members this week authorized the Dummerston Energy Committee to research the idea of partnering with a private company to construct a solar array that eventually would be owned by the town.

Another brilliant plan to bleed taxpayers dry under a cloak of smoke and mirrors. How about we really lower school electric costs? Eliminate incentives and subsidies for "green energy" and replace those bloated money sucking programs with unsubsidized loans instead? Loans are paid back with interest that is capitalized....lower the cost of electricity for everyone and stop playing games!

Bend over Dummerston taxpayers the green energy committee is about to give to you!

So you agree with me.

Who is blowing smoke into the thoughts of Dummerston's thinking. How about some normal things the town can use. Dreamers vs; tax payers AKA blue collar Vs;fruit flies thinking. Get the can of spray to rid them of these thoughts.

So we agree then.

and if by "tebagger" you really mean Taxpayer, then why yes, yes I am.

Go for it! Explain to us all why this is a good deal for Dummerston. And use the real numbers. You obviously think it is something they should do so please educate us by giving us what facts you are relying on?
Or is this more of your left wing science. If you use the words alternative energy, solar or wind then it must be ok.

Why are you so angry at people that are smarter than you?
Are you too lazy to work at it or just hindered by genetics?
Since there are no actual proposals yet, intelligent people realize that it's impossible to the run the numbers.
Since you and your friends are intelligent people, you fail to realize that.
I actually laid out a proposal (unlike you) for a residential system in the other thread but you were too scared or too stupid to analyze it.

PS I love the capitalization of "Taxpayer," it really adds some weight to your post!

A feed-in tariff (FIT, standard offer contract advanced renewable tariff or renewable energy payments) is a policy mechanism designed to accelerate investment in renewable energy technologies. It achieves this by offering long-term contracts to renewable energy producers, typically based on the cost of generation of each technology. Technologies such as wind power, for instance, are awarded a lower per-kWh price, while technologies such as solar PV and tidal power are offered a higher price, reflecting higher costs.
In addition, feed-in tariffs often include "tariff digression", a mechanism according to which the price (or tariff) ratchets down over time. This is done in order to track and encourage technological cost reductions. The goal of feed-in tariffs is to offer cost-based compensation to renewable energy producers, providing the price certainty and long-term contracts that help finance renewable energy investments
FITs typically include three key provisions:
guaranteed grid access
long-term contracts for the electricity produced
purchase prices based on the cost of generation

Are there any incentives available for SPEED projects?
Yes, by definition SPEED projects qualify for many of the renewable energy federal incentives such as solar energy tax credits, production tax credits, accelerated depreciation, etc. More information on federal incentives can be found at www.dsireusa.org .
In Vermont, SPEED projects are eligible to compete for loans from the Vermont Clean Energy Development fund. Some projects may also qualify for incentives from Vermont’s Solar & Small Wind Incentive Program. More information can be found at www.revermont.org/incentives.htm .
Additionally, SPEED projects are classified as “eligible facilities” under 10 V.S.A. chapter 12 and are eligible for low interest loans from the Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA). More information on VEDA’s loan program is available at www.veda.org .

So you’re thinking that it’s just "free money" for the taking and Dummerston should strap on their collective feed bags. How about instead we really make a difference and eliminate the BS; let’s lower prices for everyone across the board. While we’re at it, how about we speak to the acres upon acres of what used to be open green spaces that are now industrialized wasteland due to Montpelier’s energy sprawl policies. Under Shumlin’s policies we are tearing down the mountains and covering the valleys all in the name of low capacity intermittent energy manufactured in China.
Yeah I think Taxpayer should be capitalized just like American Citizen and God should be capitalized.

Remind us again who exactly funds the "Vermont Clean Energy Development fund."
Layers upon layers upon layers upon layers....

Fantastic analysis, if you keep this up, you may make junior associate at Wal-Mart in just a few more years.
Let me know when you are serious.
