What are your plans post Vermont Yankee? That's the question all of our family and friends are asking us these days, and now that we settled on a plan , I thought I would share.

Our plan is to use our severance to pay off our house. My spouse will keep their current $10.00 an hour job and I will find a similar paying job. Keeping our income as low as financially possible, our children will, the year after our severance pay out, be eligible for the first time to receive subsidized student loans, work study and grants. We will be eligible for reduced property taxes, probably not pay income taxes, and take advantage of utility assistance programs. Our health and dental insurance will be government provided. We will do this without giuilt or shame as we have paid our fair share for three decades.

You should have made entergy run that plant right. You'd still be working!

You deserve what you got...

You probably got a jumbo pension and a wopper of a 401 plan.

Only stupid people still work in Vermont, it just took us this long to understand how the game is played. We never have gone on a nice vacation, perhaps we will use our prebate and see Mexico.

-Too many years in the Navy for that to happen.

You could jump into something worst and waste a lot of money selling your house.

There is a lot of on the road jobs for the nukies...

You don't want to make your wife and kids resentful with forcing them to move away from their lives, or they will hold it against you for the rest of your life?

Maybe you know the Twarog family?

I doubt it since I also doubt you actually work at VY.

IIkmty, can you give me a good reason why we shouldn't follow our plan?

I'm pulling up stakes and relocating after my severance date at VY. My family will thrive wherever I have chosen.

If that's really your plan and you actually work for VY, I may have to reconsider my support of nuclear power.

Sound like a typical home style republican patriarchy and dictatorship...

Your wifey doesn’t have a life other than washing dishes for you?

No Mike. It is YOUR wife that carries water for you.

I can't. What you laid out is the liberal American dream.

I'm not surprised by your lack of ability.
