I often drive through Northfield Mass on my way to Keene. Northfield lost their major employer /tax base several years ago when Northfield Mount Harmon moved. The campus is vacant and as the years go by more and more for sale signs are posted. Vernon isn't too different from them. The irony is that Vernon, Hinsdale NH, and Northfield all used to be one town. The question is, why would anyone want to buy my house?

Even if anyone believed that they would have to pay $60 mill it would not be the cause of the stock dropping 3%.

There may be a nice skirmish about the value of the real estate for property tax purposes pretty soon. this could be amusing.

Not many regular people could afford Vernon property because of the organized property speculators and withholding property from sale...the vernon property mofia.

I think the property will go a lot lower than necessary because of this...almost a collapse. It is almost a Entergy town.

And that is not a good thing for the statewide property tax let alone the local government.

Who knew that the end of the world would be in a radtastic nuclear wasteland, starting with Japan and the Pacific islanders having to be evacuated
along with part of the West Coast of North America. Millions in the Northern Hemisphere under 40 will have their life spans shortened by 20-40+ years.
Since the oceans circulate around the globe, all life will be eventually be extinguished. It's that serious folks, and yet nothing in the G-d MSM here.

*Each day, 300 tons of radioactive water seeps into the ocean, and it's now clear that TEPCO has engage in a two-and-a-half-year cover-up of immense magnitude.
"I believe it's been leaking into the ocean from the start of the crisis two-and-a-half years ago," disclosed a 12-year TEPCO veteran
Japan's nuclear watchdog has now declared the leak of radioactive water from Fukushima a "state of emergency."

I couldn't get over the shocked faces of our legislators when hearing about the average earnings of VY employees. It goes to show the extent of impoverishment in this state! The should get out of Montpelier more often; take a field trip to West Hartford.....

-Average Salary in Hartford, CT:$67000.

And you are so full of shit:

The median income for a household in the city was $20,820, and the median income for a family was $22,051. Males had a median income of $28,444 versus $26,131 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,428. After World War II, and continuing through the latter half of the 20th century, many Puerto Ricans moved to the city. As of 2010, 33.7% of Hartford residents claimed Puerto Rican heritage. This was the second-largest concentration of Puerto Ricans in the Northeast, behind only Holyoke, Massachusetts (source: 2010 census).
