Not again! There will be a lot of pollution as many cash-strapped families find clever ways to get rid of their trash. I thought Moss Kahler was against the pay-to-throw system.

The majority of towns now have pay as you throw and its a fair system. there is in fact not a whole lot of roadside dumping. People should in fact pay for the amount of garbage they produce. Why should I the homeowner pay for everyone elses trash through my property tax? Time to own up freeloaders!

oh but Tom D'Errico of the Bratt Reformer was just on WKVT saying that he lives in Chesterfield NH which has had PAYT for some time now and it's 'worked out fine'
so his front yard along with the Bratt selectboard member's yards will be where we can re-dump any garbage we find dumped in our neighborhoods by the many Bratt bums who'll no doubt be saying 'F* the pay system'
Hey- they're about to have a public forum at BUHS about how to spend some of that Entergy $$, 5 million that the area is getting
Maybe they could use it to build a Waste-To-Energy plant?

Clean-energy funding: Many ideas on how to utilize money
BRATTLEBORO -- Asked to come up with projects that could benefit from millions of dollars in clean-energy funding, those who gathered at a meeting in Brattleboro Wednesday night mentioned solar, wind, biomass, anaerobic digestion and even hemp.
- Emily Peyton is a gubernatorial candidate but also a hemp advocate who said the plant can be used for a variety of purposes, including one similar to wood pellets.
"I visited a plant in the UK that was processing hemp, and it was spitting out pellets from the dust," Peyton said. She added that "there's a giant wave of awareness it's just catching on, because it's the billion-dollar cash crop."

Pat-As-You-Throw discriminates against families with children. If you have kids, you can't avoid having a lot of trash.

There are lots of very low income people in Brattleboro. I can just imagine the ways they are going to come up with to rid themselves of their trash.
Years ago when PAYT was new to some of the surrounding towns, I met a woman who said she was dumping her family's trash in the woods. Other people were coming to Brattleboro and dumping garbage in the Salvation Army bins. The Salvation Army had to remove all of those bins that had been here for many years.
