WHAT MUST BE UNDERSTOOD IS THAT THERE ARE MANY AMERICAN "DREAMS". FOR SOME IT IS A NIGHTMARE, BECAUSE OF RAMPANT INEQUALITY, FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM TO ADDRESS SOCIAL NEEDS AND PROBLEMS ON MANY, MANY LEVELS. THOSE WHO WANT TO BELIEVE THERE IS STILL AN AMERICAN DREAM ARE ENTITLED TO THIS, THE JURY VERDICT IS STILL OUT, AND THE JUDGE IS OUT TO LUNCH. UNFORTUNATELY, NOT EVERYONE CAN BE A DOTCOM OR INTERNET COMPANY SUCCESS.

"It is the government that is the enemy."
I mean, it is the monied right wing terrorist extremist who think and act as if our government is the enemy of its people and the USA.
Our government is the solution to our problems and everyone knows it.
Pretty pathetic existence if all your time is spent watching for my spelling mistakes...

Yes, there is. But, when you are arrogantly insinuating that others are less intelligent than you? Which you do often, and you know it. You need to make sure you get the grammar correct, or else you risk being exposed as the moron you are.

a gotcha based on grammar trivia to try and discredit a poster is hysterical and childish. Mike is smarter than average, not agreeing with his view points and than calling him a moron shows what a human POS you are. It's how bullies operate, they try to shut people up threw intimidation because they aren't smart enough to state their case in a civil manner to counter somebodies point of view.

Listen angry boy, Mike has earned the derision of everybody on this site. Look around, he completely dominates this once useful Topix forum, answering himself dozens of time per post most of the time. Sorting through all of his posts trying to find info by anybody else is endlessly frustrating.

He has worked hard to earn the disrespect he now gets.

This once all nukes all the time forum is now as dead as the nuke plant so it looks like a nuke nut has found something new to complain about and that is Mike.

Angry=buzz word like Hate.
Your tantrums are entertaining but nothing more than rants by a grumpy old geezer with no nuke plant to complain about anymore.

Hmmm, I don't know who you think you are talking to. I've actually NEVER whined about VY. I have little respect for most of the folks on both "sides", because most of them don't actually really understand how nuclear energy production really works at all. Meaning rather than make up their own minds, they are simply picking a guru. Arbitrarily deciding who they want to believe.

But, as a nation with the now lowest average science knowledge in the industrialized world? Not surprising.

But we actually have more people who have a high level of scientific knowledge than any country in the world. What we have are demographics which cause our average to be lower than we'd like it to be.

Another vague accusation with nothing to back it up. <yawn>

Some of these people who say they are scientific centric are really the farthest away from anything science and truthful. They don’t even know what science is. They might be pretty up on a small segment of science...but they are an enormous distance away from the greater science and morality...

They dress up a limited political agenda with science...

All science does is reveal the everlasting truth!

"Yawn" is it threatening to you for anybody to dare mention that America is not #1 in everything?

You could have Googled it, LOTS of fairly consistent results. Here is one, and it qualifies more countries as "industrialized" as some. So here we are not dead last, but still in the bottom 1/2 out of 40 nations.

How can you improve if you don't know where you are? I don't see how you spin these facts into a "political agenda" - righties and lefties might choose different ways of funding and such, but we all have a pretty equal self-interest in having well educated kids.
