In response to Mike from Bennington,
Truth is, Supreme Court has ruled several times "wages are not for taxing"; Supreme Court has defined "income" to essentially mean corporate profit [no individual has "income"] which means corporations should be paying income taxes, but mostly they don't! oil companies with $30 billion+/- PROFIT per quarter should be taxed but instead get subsidized by the workers wages which should not be taxed! Go figure! Taxing profit (money over and above any needs) makes sense and WOULD take care of all the needs. As Gandhi reminded us,
"There is enough for all need, there is not enough for all greed". Einstein, I believe, said, "We cannot solve the problem from the same level of consciousness that created it." We need to get outside the system, create or engage a new system/paradigm like a Giving Economy, demonstrated in Mali where everyone's needs are met by all giving always ... each contributes and all are cared for ;-) Magic ;-) Miracle? ;-) It is just The Way ... of all life (humans seem to be slow to catch on, but we are coming along ;-)

The trouble is that the top 25% are already paying 90% of the Federal income taxes being paid and there is not that much left over. In order to do what you are talking about you will have to start getting taxes on everyone else. There simply isn't as much money in the hands of the "rich" as you like to fantasize about. For instance, if you took every nickel of every billionaire in the US and applied it to the national debt you would have to do the same thing for another 21 years to pay of the debt. And your program would be expensive.
As for the minimum wage increase. The profits of the companies would remain the same since they would just increase prices. Inflation would ensue and bingo the hike in the minimum wage would result in no more wealth.

-yeah Most do not realize* the fact that when they fill out the 1040 etc. for the IRS they are legally agreeing to being a Corporate Personhood and therefore taxable, since individual wages are personal Property which the Founders agreed should NOT be taxed. The IRS Code is in federal law USC Title 50 and it also defines 'income' as corporate profit. So we Could get back to the way the Founders outlined the system where Actual corporations had to pay the taxes on Their profit if only the masses would WTFU and stop gullibly signing their rights away to become Corporate Personhoods and debtors to the New World Order banksters who orchestrated the unconstitutional change with their private 'Federal' Reserve Ponzi scheme and the national 'Emergency' declared on March 9, 1933, which has never been Undeclared...

*most are sheeple obliviots anyhow
