We are right on the edge of a drought and we are certainly in a pre-drought.

"The Northeast
The Northeast saw some minor improvements as modest rainfall and lake-effect snow fell across the region leading to the removal of some areas of Abnormally Dry (D0) in New York State. Short-term precipitation deficits led to expansion of areas of Abnormally Dry (D0) in northeastern Pennsylvania. Strong winds, associated with a frontal passage, were observed at Mt. Washington Observatory in New Hampshire where peak wind gusts reached 130 mph on Saturday. The rest of the region remained unchanged on the map for the week. Temperatures throughout the region were generally below normal during the past seven days."

I just went out for a smoke and it is pouring. Pull up some more boards Mike. You're a better carpenter than meteorologist.

Now, Mike is an f***ing quack for sure. And who knows whether we will actually have a drought or not. But of course a few heavy rains here and there mean nothing in the face of larger patterns. Will we move into hard drought? Who knows. But look for averages, not specific events.

Mike you should know droughts never last too long in the Northeast, go back to worrying about "the bridge".

You should change your handle to "mike mulligan" to make it unanimous that only Mike Mulligan is commenting on topix. He has the vast majority of comments now. Let's make it unanimous.

Is the spooky “no hurricane season” related to our drought?

The USA has had two consecutive below-average years for tornadoes, a break for a nation that typically sees more twisters than any country on Earth.
