Lets say we only had one meltdown and containment explosion...can you see vulture media already. The core melting threw and the extremely high radiation prevents the cooling and core has giant hole.

Right, but relativity little radiation leaking out ten miles from the plant. So the plant never really went passed licensing conditions. You know, like no deaths.

The ex NRC chairman considered this scenario.

Can you imagine the repetitive and prolonged nature of the media reports...the simular bungling of the recovery as Fukushima.

Is there any doubt the mild accident, according to licensing, and the prolong bungling would seriously question the integrity of our government and destroy the nuclear industry.

Twenty percent of our electrical supply would evaporate within a few years. We would be in a decade of really expensive electricity and power shortage...we wouldn’t be able to recover that amount of electricity for a decade.

So according to the NRC this is a acceptable outcome for our nation...

Can you imagine a long term uncontrollable seepage of radioactivity into one of our rivers or lakes?

Forget about the human health; imagine the public relation disaster this would cause all throughout the nation...

That would hurt more Americans than the radiation...

I am really qualified to make comments on nothing and spend my days as a busy body, a prattler, a no goodnick troublemaker; it sure beats the monotony of watching Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, the country music video channel and porn. Thank you VT Yankee taxpayers for subsidizing my time wasting!!!

The USA doesn't need a Fuktupshita like Japan's to kill lots of us--Japan's HAS started killing us, death rates have gone up in the U.S. thanks to the radiation and hot particle that have dropped on us, and it IS going to kill LOTS More of us if it goes critical
Pray that it does not
and that nuketards wake the hell up and SHUT EM DOWN

You think that really moves poeple?

That is why VY is still operating...

Fukushima will never happen at VY. Period.

Mike, your ignorance and lack of reasoning is showing through. You seem to make claims, but your info just does not add up. You really need to go back to protesting the bridge. At least there, we can all poingt and laugh at you.

If a 30 foot wall of water hit VY, at 280 feet above sea level, there would be a lot bigger problems. NH, ME, most of MA, NYC, NJ, DE, MD, and DC would be gone. G. O. N. E. Not to mention the rest of VT.

You anti's are a funny bunch.

If you are going to be pro-nuclear, don't be an idiot.

Sustained loss of AC and DC power is what did in Fukushima. The mechanism which caused it is not relevant. Is a tsunami going to hit VY? Of course not. It is theoretically possible for VY to experience a sustained loss of AC and DC power. Yes.

Naw, it’s brain dead organizations up to and including the political system...it’s runaway and unaddressed complexity...

It’s thinking cheap procedures can overcome everything...

Believe me, what is happening in the Nuke industry today is giant slow motion Tsunami...

It is the giant culture of secrecy...

Why not-Ewe are pro-nuke and ewe're one?!

And as usual ewe are full of sh't
The Fukushima nuke plants workers saw both the critical cooling pipes that Burst And the smoke coming from the reactors BEFORE the tsunami hit, and TEPCO and the govt. finally admitted the fact that the quake alone was the main factor and that even if the tsunami hadn't happened the meltdown scenarios were still a done deal.
Wikipedia has a page on the 'GE Three', the three original nuclear reactor design engineers who whistleblew on the fact that the Mark I was a total lemon of a design and suseptable to melting down by various different scenarios, they said way back then that they're not just prone to meltdowns due to earthquakes but also Human Error

Potato head excreted:
"Fukushima will never happen at VY. Period."
-dummy! What is in Vernon is the very same design (GE Mark I) of the reactors that melted down in Fuktupshita

Why don't you describe for us the scenario which would deprive VY of AC and DC power. You are as bad as the anti nukers.

And while you are at it tell us why VY wouldn't be able to wheel in generators within a few hours to get power back.

So you are saying it's theoretically impossible?

I would be amazedly easy...just turn off all your safety systems...the AC and DC electrical systems. Turn off a sufficient number of safety systems to confuse the hell out of the plant operators.

Developed a plant wide NRC culture of dishonestly and lying...

Remember, you could get a NRC permissible accident in which the nuclear industry as we know it would end...a core melt like TMI with little radioactive release. A loss of AC and DC is a very difficult accident to create.

A falsification scandal where the credibility of the NRC is lost...same deal as TMI.

Let's hear you "theoretically possible" argument first. You stuck your neck out so let's see if you can keep your head from being chopped off. I'm a reasonable guy. If you can give me a reasonable "theoretically possible" I will acknowledge it.
