Downside seen to drivers' use of less gas

By SHAWNE K. WICKHAM
New Hampshire Sunday News

Thousands of Granite Staters are driving hybrid, electric or alternative-fuel vehicles as a way to save money and protect the environment.

And new CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards are boosting fuel economy for gas-powered cars and light trucks.

But one unintended consequence is that the gas-tax revenues that fund the roads and bridges are decreasing, in New Hampshire and across the nation.

Don't worry Mike. Dems will figure out how to tax something new to take up the slack.

Making the minimum wage $20 an hour and creating a nationwide employee shortage. A public works and infrastructure program that would knock our socks off us.

A president who was pro wage above anything else.

What does that do to the poor slob already making $20.50 per hour with a family of 4??
Who by the way is going to buy the Big Mac at the cost that rate would require?

The McDonald corporation and the heartless franchisers need a haircut…

With those kind of widespread wages….we’d make up for it by massive buying more burgers.

Yup......that's largely why wages are where they are and dollar menus cost a couple of bucks

Charge hybrid, electric or alternative-fuel vehicles by the mile, and make sure they're playing more then the gas tax. The buyers of these things get gubamint welfare when they purchase them

Most hybrids are just for status….they are really expensive cars…they don’t make economic or green sense. They are bragging cars. The lifetime cost not including a new battery is more expensive than a similar fossil fuel one.

It does use less gasoline over the lifetime…
