Regulators cancel shrimp season in Gulf of Maine
The local shrimp population is at its lowest point on record, but fisherman say without a season they canít make a living.

Regulators on Tuesday scrapped the shrimp season in the Gulf of Maine for the first time in more than 30 years after shrimp populations dipped to the lowest levels on record.
The decision by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission came after a harvest last winter that was the smallest since the last shrimp shutdown in 1978. Over the summer, the situation worsened when a shrimp index indicated stocks were at their lowest since the annual trawl survey began in 1984.

shrimp/shellfish etc. is not at all healthy to eat anyhoo, so who cares
It's going to get much harder to find fish that aren't carcinogenic thanks to all that radioactive water pouring into the Pacific from the GE Mark I reactors that went Ka-Blooey in Fuktupshita Japan
