wow some experts! I'm impressed by experts, Allen Greenspan was an expert and them big time bankers where experts and over in Japan they had experts, how's the clean up going ?
Well trained sheep lap up propaganda and their feeders laugh all the way to the bank.
Thankfully we spent tons of money on education over the last 30 years so are well prepared for the new economy and we are going to compete in the global economy. Degree's and McMansions for everyone in the land of opportunity.
Thanks for proving my point yet again.

There is no logic in this statement.
That's because you where brainwashed in government run indoctrination centers called schools to be on one side or the other on every topic. It's an abstraction somebody could care less either way on an issue and think it's funny when the spoiled hippie lost and funny when spoiled yuppies lost their jobs. They probably thought nothing of adding to the traded deficit or taxing other people up the butt for what they wanted so oh well VY said not worth it when everyone wants 6 figures to work, shut it down sooner than invest more money in it.

They won in court over and over so will have less opposition in other places.

If VY was such a gift to the economy why all the poverty ?

Maybe we can turn their McMansions into homeless shelters and group retirement homes for aging poor old hippies with no money.

Your only point was to claim reports by so called experts had some value. Considering the current economic condition of the country anyone who believes yuppie spin and double talk is lapping up propaganda. How's the new economy working out ? How many experts where wrong ?

Thankfully The Messiah we elected is going to lead us to the promised land, lots of experts said he was the chosen one. How's the hope and change going ?

Be as proud as you want of being uneducated and not valuable to employers, I really don't care what your prerogative is.

I don't think there's a case for saying vy was not good for the economy. 600 jobs, multiple contracts with local vendors/contractors, taxes, volunteerism/charitable contributions, and well paid employees who spent their time and money in the area. You're trying to make a case that the region won't feel a thing when the plant goes, and that's why you're an idiot.

I don't think anyone outside of Vermont cares what happens up there. Irrelevant.

Can't beat that education stuff, the Presidents like Clinton, Bush and Obomba went to the finest Universities on the planet and gave us The DOT.CON bubble, Housing bubble, banking crises, turned the country into food stamp nation. Clinton SUV's and McMansions for everyone $1.00 a gallon is now almost $4.00.

$20 trillion in debt when state and local muni bond debt and unfunded retirement promises to government employee's are factored in.

We import too much, use too much energy and waste and more waste is the American way of life. Educated yuppies are the worst of the bunch. Lets get a SUV and go skiing, drooling gomers and goobers graduated for Kegger-U and think they are educated ROFLMAO

I wonder how many experts Detroit hired over the years ? College graduates bankrupted America.

You are right on with your comments, but these morons have not a clue what the economic and social ripple effect the closing of the plant with have on the region. Like I said before, these NIMBYs are celebrating at their own funeral.

Yea, and Pilgrim did work on some cables last outage, they botched it causing this recent Pilgrim tripped. I heard Entergy has one of the worst rework records in the industry...meaning maintenance is botched on a widespread scale...these guys waste money like drunken sailers on upkeep and maintenance cost throughout their whole fleet...

One thing is for certain with this intensification of nuclear industry secrecy in the last 30 years...we have absolutely no idea why they failed.

As I have extensively talked about, most parts and component manufacturers with the 1970s vintage nuclear plant gear have gone out of businesses. These guys had to go into this one off re-engineering and one off manufacturing...this is crazily expensive and timely. Sticking in new gear reengineered around an obsolete base technological foundation...again mind boggling expensive.

There is no doubt the NEISO is corrupt and brain dead...we are going to pay a horrendous price for that.

The carrying Republican ideology was all about me profits first... they never could transition into new gear and cheaper upkeep. These guys were doomed in the beginning because all these plants are effective one off creations...extraordinarily expensive.

You should ask yourselves with declining nuclear plant job, a lot of these guys arenít going to get rehired and certainly under worst wages and benefits.

A lot of these guys are going to get disgruntled...

We are heading for a deluge of leaking internal documents...

Personally I think we should ignore it...

Remember Shadis had me down for a few days looking at Main Yankee operations documents. The internal documents didnít even come close to what the officials were saying about what closed the plant...

I would consider what Entergy is saying about why they closed is totally about is internal and external political spin...much to keep wall street and the bond people in happyland.

The only way they could do what they did...is they had to get rid of John Herron and CEO. They effectively fired them in order to walk pass the old mistakes.

Stephen is a nice guy but he is dead wrong. I didn't have to swallow the vitriol since I knew it was coming from a tiny minority of the population. They were powerful and had voices our of size to their population but they were not us. I'm never going to forget how ridiculous they are and at every opportunity I am going to point out how they have hurt our community. I think that is the healthy approach so that we can avoid letting these idiots from ever getting control again. Maybe the real depression that Windham County is going to suffer will finally wake everyone up to the damage that the nay sayers can do.
And now that VY is going to close who are they going to go after because it really wasn't about VY anyway. It was about their own need to attack the establishment. Who is next on the list of companies they want to drive out of here? They got C&S to move out and VY to close. Who is next?
You haven't heard the news yet? Your AG has attached VT to a lawsuit against the EPA about home heating with wood boilers.

Take the recent shutdown with Pilgrim. They did cable work last outage...they botched something with the installation causing a later short tripping all feed pumps. The cycle before, they purchased brand new three stage safety reliefs...then, the first cycle they all ended up leaking. Some leaked more than once. It caused three expensive outages and many 80% and 90% power restrictions. The guys are noted for the maintenance reword and they are overly dependent on really expensive contractors. I heard some of these plants were up to 60% rework. These guys are the leaders of rework and excessively expensive maintenance.

The ignorance of those celebrating the shut down of VY is appalling. Not only will most of those 600+ Entergy workers be out of work. But the supporting contractors, mom & pop stores, charitable donations, and state taxes will be gone. IBM has said that if VY goes, so will they. So there goes the biggest VT employer and their taxes and local economic support. They aren't the only business in VT to say that either.

The domino affect will be massive, and devastating, to the state of VT. The so called ecological problems the anti's have been spouting is pure BS and fear mongoring.

Mr. Mulligan, you say you have worked at VY? What department? What years? Because the crap coming from you is extremely amussing.

Disingenuous fact twisting.

IBM VT spends ~$35 million a year on electrical power and is understandably concerned about potential increased power costs but never said "if VY goes, so will they."
