It springs back pretty hard...perhaps intalling a revolving door would be a wonderful gift to the employees & so much easier on the ass...

A source inside the Vernon plant says managers are telling workers that the company could lay off 10 percent of the facility’s roughly 650 workers - See more at:

In 2013, the fair value of the Vermont Yankee nuclear plant fell 69 percent, from $517.5 million to $162 million. UBS Securities downgraded Entergy Corp.’s stock from “neutral” to “sell.” The Swiss financial services firm also projected the closure of an Entergy nuclear facility in 2013, saying “Vermont Yankee is the most tenuously positioned plant.”

How is what he posted an indication he would "take pleasure"? Here is another question for you, if it is necessary to lay off people to keep the business competitive are you in favor of doing it?

Here is another question for you. You are running VY and making a profit but you discover that you have 65 more employees than you need to operate safely and competently. Should you lay off those 65 employees?

what a douchetastic nuketard- No one 'takes pleasure' in seeing workers lose their jobs, although seeing another Dirty Bomb get SHUT DOWN would make the planet and us all a bit safer. PhuukEwe and any nuketards who hate that fact. Ex-Dirty Bomb workers can take pleasure in the fact that there's a booming business in Solar and other Safe energy industries and go there

No one wants to see layoffs...and no one likes dishonesty...call the reduction in work force what it is..cost cutting ...not restructuring ...not optimizing the workforce....

That door you are talking about is an "exit only" door for Vermont's private sector employers and employees. At one time Vermont was a faucet but it's future is a drain.

Canada bought up and monopolized Vermont's electric generation and transmission for the sole purpose of creating an energy highway to a more lucrative market. What does Canada care if VT implodes with it's green energy ideology when Canada will be raking in the big bucks from the NYC market? Vermont is simply an means to an ends for Canada, they already own us, and Shumlin is just another broker who has positioned himself to swindle his way into a US Senate seat. In Shumlin's mind, all Vermonters are just another Jeremy Dodge!

Wrong Door AOM! Vermont is a happening place -- we do not need a dirty bomb to provide electricity & VT has no power contracts w/Entergy Louisiana. It currently provides a whopping 2% to the NE Grid.

And the vast majority of workers at VY do not even live in VT.

I do not believe that VT PSB will give them a CPG either.

Nationwide they're Entergy's fortunes are circling around the drain.

I don't know what percentage of by workers live in vt...but I bet it is a significant number of people. No one wants to see layoffs...entergy is doing damage control..issuing statements to multiple media outlets, after someone leaked the story. It is not optimization, or streamlining the organization, it is simple cost cutting..due to falling revenue..isn't one of the issues the pan has with entergy cog....financial viability?

Get ready to bleed out Vermont! We have a real pumper with IBM and nothing to clot the artery. Close VT Yankee on top of that and we will be flat lined in five years! This is more than conversation, this is subtraction!

We already have been flat lining for years. How could we not since we have the progressives in power. Those two events you describe will send us on the downslope.

This is what Entergy Louisiana calls it:

"human capital management strategic imperative"

Wrap your brain around that mouthful...

Shumlin has prostituted Vermont to Canada over this issue; we shall soon see if any liberty at all remains when the PSB announces their findings.
