Like, is empty space in the cosmos empty...absolutely not. There are tremendous forces in the empty space...the space time continuum or fabric.

The atomic forces would be a hell of a lot stronger if not for the fabric of space...
There is more energy in the so called empty space than in all of the observable universe...

The unseen (energy) fabric that holds the universe together.

Yes, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction, Lawrence Krauss puts this together well in this youtube video, which I think I may have posted before, but I wouldn't want anyone to miss this lecture:

Polio drive halted as four workers shot dead
http://www.awaztoday.com/News_Polio-drive-hal...
22 January 2014

"KARACHI: The polio vaccination campaign suffered a major setback countrywide on Tuesday, as three workers of an anti-polio team, including two women, were gunned down in Karachi and another was killed in the Oghi Tehsil of Mansehra district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In Karachi, gunmen riding six motorcycles targeted a team of health workers, killing three people and wounding two others in a hit-and-run attack, police said.

At least 10 to 12 armed men — some of them wearing helmets — opened fire at the health workers in the Qayyumabad neighbourhood when they were out to administer polio drops to children.

Aneeta Bibi, 28, and Akberi Bibi, 33, died on the spot, while Fahad Khalil, 33, succumbed to injuries at the hospital, said Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Syed Pir Mohammed Shah. The two wounded persons have been identified as Salma Bibi, 35, and Syed Asghar Ali, 70.

Dr Seemi Jamali of Jinnah Hospital said Salma Bibi sustained a bullet wound to her shoulder and was moved to a private hospital after the initial treatment. The other injured Ali sustained minor injuries and was discharged.

Police said despite security threat, the polio vaccinators went out to perform their duty without the mandatory police escort. The assailants used 9mm pistols. Empty bullet shells have been sent to Sindh Police forensic division, Shah said.

Following the attack, health workers halted polio vaccination drive across Pakistan where efforts to eradicate this crippling disease are being obstructed by the local Taliban militants and hard-line clerics, who declare it a Western conspiracy to make children infertile and against the tenets of Islam.

Rahim Shah, another senior official, told The News that as per plan, police commandos had to be deployed with all the 40 teams of health workers operating in the Korangi Division which includes Qayyumabad, Mehran Town, Bilal Colony and the Industrial Area.

“It has been made mandatory for all health workers to report to their respective union councils and visit areas along with police security.”He said each team was being accompanied by an assistant sub-inspector and eight policemen.“We had advised the medical officer concerned of Qayyumabad Office Dr. Anwar, at 9.30 a.m. to wait for our men, but he allowed his team to go without the police escort.”

The health workers’ team left at 10:30am, though its departure was scheduled at 11.00 am – the same time when it came under attack, he added.Karachi Police Chief Shahid Hayat Khan blamed medical supervisor’s negligence for the tragedy. He said an investigation team had been constituted under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) East Range Munir Ahmed Sheikh to arrest the culprits.

“We are trying to develop the sketches of these terrorists with the help of witnesses.”Police suspect one of the factions of the outlawed local Taliban responsible for the attack. Officials of the World Health Organisation, US Aid, Sindh Health Department and other departments concerned visited the Jinnah Hospital to sympathize and express solidarity with he victims’ families.

Our Mansehra correspondent adds:

A polio worker was killed in the Oghi tehsil of Mansehra district on Tuesday. Mohammad Haleem, a schoolteacher, was administering anti-polio vaccine in Batkal area when one Mohammad Afzal allegedly opened fire at him, killing him on the spot. The accused fled the scene.

Supervisor Munir Hussain, who was accompanying the slain, did his best to avert the tragedy, but the accused threatened to kill him also if he tried to resist him. " ..

Huckabee: Democrats Believe Women 'Can't Control Their Libido' Without 'Uncle Sugar'
http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/huckabe...
Submitted by Brian Tashman on Thursday, 1/23/2014

"Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee claimed today that the GOP isn’t partaking in a “war on women,” and that it is actually Democrats who “insult the women of America” by making them believe they “can’t control their libido.”
&fe ature=youtu.be Huckabee, who is considering a 2016 presidential bid, made the remarks http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-poli... at a Republican National Committee summit just as the party has been stressing greater “sensitivity” to women voters. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/05/john...

The Fox News pundit claimed,“Democrats think that women are nothing more than helpless and hopeless creatures whose only goal in life is to have the government provide for them birth control medication” and rely on “Uncle Sugar providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido.”

As Dave Weigel noted,
http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2014/01/23/... Huckabee has used the line before and “it's a crowd-pleaser, if only to a select audience.” "

Get Over Ewerself
He wasn't talking about ALL women, just those of ewe who can't control your libidos, as evidenced by the fact that the beating hearts of 56 million babies have been stopped by abortion since the sick Roe v. Wade SC decision, and most all of those were done with the lame excuse of bearing a child being an 'inconvenience' for the promiscuous woman
Good women have nothing to be offended from what he said, it's just the commie muckrackers who want ewe to be
Buy ewer own damn birth control pills/condoms and stop insisting that the govt.(the rest of us) fund ewe're perversion

Religious countries are the most corrupt
http://epiphenom.fieldofscience.com/2014/01/r...
Tomas Rees January 26, 2014

"Using standard assessments of national corruption, Hamid Yeganeh & Daniel Sauers of Winona State University, USA, have found that countries with the most religious people also have the highest levels of corruption.

Now, in itself this is not a new observation (I pointed out as much back in 2008), given that some of the most religious countries are also the most corrupt. But what is new is that the relationship holds even after controlling for the effects of socioeconomic development. And they showed that religious denomination doesn’t matter – all religions are the same.

Religion, of course, is supposed to promote good behaviour. So what gives? Well, the authors give several potential explanations.

It might be that religion provides a solace to those on the receiving end. But they point out that religious societies are hierarchical, where the elites end up with a lot of power that goes unchallenged. That’s linked to the tight alignment of religious organizations to political and governmental ones in less developed countries.

It also might be the case that religion increases by discriminating between the faithful and unfaithful, thereby encouraging cronyism and nepotism.

They conclude

“Considering the variety of corruption measures, the reliability of data, and the large number of included countries, we have to conclude that religiosity not only does not
impede corruption but tends to promote it… Based on the above-mentioned arguments, we may conclude that while religiosity provides guidance on morality, some of its characteristics practically promote corrupt business behavior.”"

Republican Candidate Who Thinks Autism is the Result of God’s Anger Over Gay Marriage is Told to Drop Out of Race
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/...
January 27, 2014 By Hemant Mehta

"It was just days ago when GOP House candidate Susanne Atanus told a local newspaper that she believes http://www.patheos.com/blogs/friendlyatheist/... — and this is paraphrased —“God controls the weather and has put tornadoes and diseases such as autism and dementia on earth as punishment for gay rights and legalized abortions.”

Now, Republican leaders are urging her to get out of the race: http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20140123/n...

" Jack Dorgan, chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, said in a statement on Thursday,“The offensive statements by Susanne Atanus have no place in the modern political debate, and she has no place on the ballot as a Republican.”

“Her candidacy is neither supported nor endorsed by the leaders of our party, and she should withdraw from the race immediately.”"

I’m shocked. In a party where even the presidential candidates say things like women need birth control pills because they “cannot control their libido” http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/24/opinion/richard... or that homosexuality is comparable to man-on-dog sex, http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2010/08/r... I had no idea there were limits to what was acceptable.

But let’s hope she stays in the race. She’s one of those gifts that will keep on giving, a Todd Akin-like candidate who could take the rest of the GOP down with her every time she opens her mouth."

24 House Republicans Just Voted To Deny The Reality Of Climate Change
http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2014/01/28/3...
By Katie Valentine on January 28, 2014

"The House Energy and Commerce Committee Tuesday voted down an amendment that would have stated conclusively that climate change is occurring.

E&C Committee members voted 24-20 against the amendment, introduced by Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) to H.R. 3826, http://docs.house.gov/meetings/IF/IF03/201401... the Electricity Security and Affordability Act. That bill, if it makes it through Congress, would put an end http://www.bna.com/week-ahead-obama-b17179881... to EPA regulations on emissions for new power plants until technologies like carbon capture and storage are commercially viable in at least six states for one year. It passed in Tuesday’s committee, but the amendment, which would have placed on the record that the committee accepts that climate change is happening, did not.

Twenty-four E&C members — all Republicans — voted against the amendment. Among them was E&C Chair Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), who has said before http://thinkprogress.org/climate-denier-caucu... that he doesn’t think climate change is caused by human activity, and Joe Barton (R-TX), who also questions humans’ role in climate change. In total, the Republicans who voted to deny climate change have accepted about $9.3 million in career contributions from the oil, gas and coal industries, according to analysis by the CAP Action War Room.

This isn’t the first time House Republicans have rejected amendments stating the reality of climate change. In 2011, House Republicans voted down http://thehill.com/blogs/e2-wire/149585-house... amendments that called on Congress to accept that climate change is real, man-made, and a human health threat.

Scientists, of course, disagree with the committee members. Ninety-seven percent http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/capital-w... of scientific studies that take a stance on climate change agree that human activity is causing climate change. In October, a study found that temperatures in the Canadian Arctic today are warmer than at any point in the last 44,000 years and possibly even as far back as 120,000 years.

“The key piece here is just how unprecedented the warming of Arctic Canada is,” Gifford Miller, UC Boulder Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research Associate Director and lead author of the study http://instaar.colorado.edu/news-events/insta... said.“This study really says the warming we are seeing is outside any kind of known natural variability, and it has to be due to increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.”"

This episode illustrates the hate, bigotry, and ignorance spread by religion from mid December 2013 to mid January 2013. You may be shocked at how much harm religion can cause in just one month.
