The business of a natural gas pipline in Vermont
Does Vermont's economic future depend on natural gas?
When Peter Shumlin was elected governor in 2010, the first thing he did after getting over his surprise at winning was to travel the state, asking Vermonters for advice. Shumlin says he got some particularly good advice from Bobby Miller, owner of R.E.M. Development Co. in Williston, the largest commercial real estate developer in the state.
He said,Peter, my best advice to you is dont worry about Chittenden County because Chittenden County will grow jobs without you doing anything much. Your job as governor is to help grow jobs in parts of the state that are jobs-challenged, Shumlin said.
Miller included the western side of the state down to Rutland and Bennington and the Northeast Kingdom in the jobs-challenged category. He told Shumlin he needed to do two things:Get them good rail and get them natural gas

It has always been as plain as hell in Vermont...ignore everything south of Rutland.
You know why, it is the population sweet spot and population density.
The Rutland, Burlington and Montpellier population nexus...
