So is it the weather or is something up with our trees.

I like a story about trees in our cities....what historical record of growth, development and management of trees in our lives. It there a type of environment where trees cause more outages....poor versus wealthy neighborhoods? How has the average age of our trees changed over the last 100 years? Do heat islands cause trees to grown faster and develop structurally poorer? Do we got insect infestations and or other diseases weakening trees?

I mean, this is a national security issue and we should have a large government report on the state of our trees in our nation. It is a growing problems. We show thinking about harder weather in our future and come up with a federal game plant with how to manage our trees.

Lets say we put all our electric cables under ground. Would that solve our problems or worsen it? i could make a case it would make our lives worst. We put the cables under ground , we then ignore the tree problem...one day we wake with electricity and an enormous amount of our large trees knocked down and nobody can move around for weeks at a time.

We should have some strict national codes with how we nationally regulate trees....?

Right, if we had a nuclear device go off in a city...it would be the knocked over tree problem that would create the greatest heart ache.

So like, do we have bigger problems with a new development or is it an old development or neighborhood (50/100 years) that causes all our problem...?

So how much property damage is estimated?

Can we engineer power lines to be more resilient....like fault detection and isolation....how about out laying all non insulated power lines?

How much money would it take to insulate all power lines....

Why all the damage with the feeder lines?

You know like, Godzilla or nuclear power ate Japan, trees are eating America. The slow motion Godzilla monster for America is trees.

I mean, if we have a big hurricane with big winds...trees are going to screw us like never before....

Experts say residents should keep watchful eye on tree health

Steve Dostal, who works for Dostal Tree Service, owned by his son, Daniel Dostal, moves branches to a chipper.

Two incidents this month in which tree limbs fell on individuals in western Massachusetts may make people walking through parks or on tree-lined avenues wary.

On July 4, Lester Holtzblatt of Sudbury was killed when a branch fell on him while he was walking along a rural Lenox road after a concert at Tanglewood.

The next day, an 11-year-old girl was hospitalized after she was struck in the head by a falling limb at Sarah Jane Sherman Park in Chicopee

Did they have these problems when the farmers clear cut woods to make fields for the cows and sheep. This is why they invented electricity and had to put the trees back up to put the wires on. Then along came the "unions" and let the trees along the wires to grow back to make more work [over time] to become richer than the farmers and retire while farmers worked till dead. Is this in the book of revelation and the end is near chapter of "told you so" tribe.
