Open Selectboard Seats
Change

Brattleboro, VT

Typically, this time of year is known for Selectboard and Representative Town Meeting candidates gathering signatures and starting their campaigns.

This year is different, according to Town Clerk Annette Cappy. Only one petition has been taken out and returned.

So far, there is only One Candidate for Three Open Brattleboro Selectboard Seats

With three open seats on the Selectboard (Dick, Dora, and Chris are stepping down), only David Cadran has gathered signatures thus far and will be running for a one-year seat. If elected he’ll join Ken Schneck and David Gartenstein on the board.

That leaves two Selectboard seats (three, if enough candidates care to run) and numerous Representative Town Meeting member positions available to be filled. Petitions are due to the Town Clerk by January 28th.

Stop in the Town Clerk’s office on the first floor of the Municipal Center on Main Street to find out more about how you could run for an elected position in Brattleboro.

AND:

All of you outspoken critics, now is your chance to prove that you can DO MORE THAN JUST WHINE AND COMPLAIN. This is your chance to shape the discourse, and make a difference in your community.

otherwise, STFU.

I just want the town to be run by people who aren't hippies. I would enjoy seeing the "get real" community again.

I think that not liking the folks who have been running for the SB is perfectly reasonable. So, run for a seat!

I would like to just see some people who understand how the middle class lives. Taxes are ever rising and they do all they can to help that cause. The home owner can't pay for everything on their wish list.
Maybe a town vote on the whole police/fire thing would have been a good start. after all we are funding it, half the town reps are totally out of touch and don't have a grip on reality. It should be a voice of many, not a few.

That non-grip on reality has been going on for a long, long time. Apathy has set in. I myself am struggling with a serious chronic illness ans cannot run. Many people who would have made good reps have left the area. Wonder why?
