This is the problem with our corporatized media...the only voice we get is though the interest of a private interest.

What is going on with this Jones act and shipping? Are they trying to undermine USA shipping and jobs through cheap and slave labor foreign shipping...ship owner interest.

Is Senator Sanders behind undermining American workers?

But then officials learned that the maritime law, which was passed in 1920 and is known as the Jones Act, stipulates that only ships with United States flags and crews can transport goods between American ports.

Officials applied for the waiver on Thursday, but the Department of Homeland Security has not yet ruled.

'Congressional delegation seeks curbs on propane exports to ease supply problems'

“Retailers here in New England would love to have more of that domestically produced propane brought to our market, no question,” Cota said.“But it’s more than just exports. If exports were banned, we would still need infrastructure and storage capacity.”

Cota also points to the Merchant Marine Act of 1920, also known as the Jones Act, which bans foreign-owned ships from traveling from one U.S. port to another. At the time, the law was meant to protect the domestic shipping industry. Cota said there are no U.S.-flagged ships capable of transporting propane, meaning there is no way to ship propane from Texas to New Hampshire.

“If you got lots of gas in Texas, and you need to get it to New Hampshire, the easy way to do it is to put it on a ship 15 million gallons at a time,” Cota said.“Blocking exports and not waiving the Jones Act won’t reduce prices. There’s a whole host of issues to look at.”

If New Jersey had a port they could unload it there. They don't seem to care what else comes thru N.J. that's white and crystal. Didn't Davy Jones die so who cares.
