New Power Line In Hinsdale

So over by the Dam near the rail road tracks, looks like they are clearing out the woods to put a new power line in.

I mean, I love puzzles…

On the rail road trail in Hinsdale just north of the police shooting range, lucky I am alive…there is a little trail that snakes to basically the Vernon dam. It snakes along on the east side of the Connecticut River on its elevated bluffs.

There is a dead tree where eagle shoot the shit and tell of their war stories. It is just a gorgeous deep woodsy area. I love this area and I travel it often throughout the year.

So one line from the dam comes across the Connecticut, actually three lines for all the phases…it snakes along the river north and goes back across to the Brattleboro West River substation. Along side this line is an ancient abandoned line. Three of the lines just disappears in the woods…trees grew all around the rest of the lines and poles.

There has been a lot of heavy equipment back there…maybe well drilling and perk testing. So that ancient abandoned line aligns right up to cleared away areas beginning near the police shooting range. They are rebuilding this line. It seemingly is my guess it is connecting up to the Winchester substation.

So why?

Sorry, the Ashuelot substation…

Could it be going to new facility using a lot of juice?

The lines follow our trail about 100 feet away…it is no longer a deep woodsy area.
It is just sad…
But it is creating work for poor souls and I know it is in the interest of our area.
It is not a frequently used trail either, involving a lot of people…
It seems they are getting ready to use River Road, to over the old Hinsdale dump and past the firing range, then onto the RR trail.
The got lots of orange construction marker tapes over the place…all sorts of new quad tire marks over the area investigating the territory.
I’ve always wanted them to build a nuke plant or power plant back there…

I hope you continue to follow this and perform periodic inspections on the development of the infrastructure to make sure it is properly built. If it is not properly built, according to your specifications, I trust that you will:
A) Report it to the police
B) Tear up any sub-standard construction
C) Post your progress reports here,
and D) All of the above plus any action you deem necessary.

They better not fool around with me with my reputation; I’ll become a blue woodsy angel super hero…

What the hell would you do if I taped a “BUILD NEW Bridge” on your power pole in the middle of the woods…

You are in big trouble buddy…

VELCO and ISO New England, responsible for the wholesale electricity market throughout New England, identified about $30 million of projects that needed to be done to compensate for Vermont Yankee’s closing, Dutton said. He said all of those projects, except for a small upgrade on five miles of transmission lines in the southeast corner of Vermont connecting to Massachusetts, have been completed.
