It is just amazing how situationally unaware all the media and anti nukes have become. The whole lot of you got massive tunnel vision.

You dopes. This is the NE 2013 and rendition of the California energy crisis ala Entergy...

Does anyone remember the reason for the historic electric price spike begging in the fall of 2012 and cumulating in breath-taking price spikes last winter and we almost losing the grid because of electricity shortage last winter. We have been under the shadow of much more expensive electricity than necessary since the fall of 2012.

Basically we got a small amount of people controlling the electric and natural gas market in NE...we got a amassing underdeveloped and unregulated natural gas market. There are controlling the price of electricity through these mechanisms...and we got some of the most expensive electricity markets in the nation.

They control the capacity of the natural gas pipeline distribution system to control profits to all the big player...

And one nuclear plant Pilgrim repeatedly set the system on fire with their shutdowns...

I am not making the case for nuclear plants...I am saying they set the grid and the market up to be so fragile...

Come on you people, they yank VY off the market...they are going to set the whole NE electric market and electricity prices on fire for a decade...

So they yanked VY off the market...Entergy and their conspirator will be betting big time in the speculative markets knowing the price of NEISO electricity will become massively inflated for many ahead of us...

Shutting down VY, they will be making all the money they lost at the plant and much more...

They just hit the once in a lifetime lottery...

Mike, how could you make such a ridicules statement like that without proof...

So we had a rather mild late summer day today between 80 and 85 degrees...so why did the five minute NEISO market go crazy today with $180MWh spike?

All it took is a distant shutdown of Vermont Yankee...

The grid speculator, much like the California electric crisis in around 2001...it is like they lit a match in a flammable atmosphere and the electric prices exploded.

There is no doubt VY created this...

Entergy knows if they begin to shutdown VY in this inflamed, damage and vulnerable grid condition...they will be able to make a ton of money in the next decade...

So why is electricity and natural prices going up so fast in the last year?

http://isonewswire.com/updates/2013/8/22/mont...

Because of insuffecient NG pipeline capacity...

Why did the shutdown of the Pilgrim plant last year inflame the electric markets last year.

I am not making a pro nuclear or VY argument...

The media just has become so shallow with how they report how we make and distrubute electrcity!

If you can’t support a nuke plant in expensive NE 90% of the national fleet...all utilities...must be doomed...

You know Palisades plant is in worst shape than VY...are they next. How come they weren't first?

I bet you compared to NYISO....their rates were lower than the NEISO in the beginning of this and were driven down much lower than the NEISO...

No dought, the electric market has gone crazy yesterday and today?

Back in the old days in California they would just route electricity out of state and back jacking up prices tremendously or just bogusly shutting down plants in state and in an emergency...that is how they created the crisis.

Today, they just drop coal, oil and other plants in the name of global warning and don’t develop the natural gas pipelines creating the same artificial electric crisis...that is how they create the NEISO California crisis today...

There is no doubt about it; the NEISO has ghost reserve capacity. That is capacity they pay companies to supply, but they have no ability to supply it. Our system is much more fragile than the data implies.

Why did five minute market spike to over $300 bucks and why was electricity so expensive today?

Is that the plan, sacrifice VY to the higher good...make them part of the reason for spiking electricity so we dare not try to shut down another nuke...

“The winter months are particularly tough,” said Daniel Howard, general manager of the Westfield Gas & Electric Department, who noticed gas transportation costs for after 2014 spiked just after Entergy’s Vermont Yankee announcement.“The pipelines are oversubscribed during these peak periods. It’s not something that is going to fix itself.”

$600 MWh...what a disgraced...

This sets us up for a very expensive electcity this winter and it is telegraphing to the utilities they will be paying more money for power...
