I have three teenage daughters. I was going to complain about my bill until I read this post. I guess I'm getting off cheap at 19 grand. I wish I had boys. Then I would only have a laundry bill to worry about.

It's called winter, they come on more times when it's colder out. Plus, when MED goes over their allotment of power from NYPA they have to buy the extra power on the mainstream market and that is at regular rates that other companies pay, so they have to add that on to the bills, usually winter and the hottest month of the year when a lot of power is being used by a lot of people. My bill for December's usage was $151 and January's usage was $157. I don't thinks that bad to heat a whole house and the rest of the electrical usage for the house in the winter time and HEAP is available if you can not afford your heat bill. Turn light out, lower your water heater, and turn your heat down, add insulation, if you think your electrical bills are too high. Be thankful you are not heating with fuel oil, that usually cost 2 to 3 thousand a year, just for heat.

Bullcrap! You either work for them, have a relative who works for them, or live in a shoe box.

MED has a new building coming and its Superintendent makes $140K a year, plus has a nice new tahoe to drive and gas up. Those costs add up.

$54 a month is possible if it is a small place, well insulated and weatherproofed, and the heater is efficient.
