I feel this is wrong. We have to support them all year and then they go and have lots of kids and get thousands back in their income taxex while the working person gets dittally. i feel this money they get back should be given back into the goverment for rpairs or into a kitty. What do you think?

If a person is on welfare and not working, then they cannot file an income tax return, so every person who is getting this so called big tax refund IS working. So what if they get more back than you do when you do your taxes? You had more money than them all year long, and you STILL make more money than them even when they get a refund. So why are you so jealous if someone with a Low Income all year long gets a little help from Uncle Sam in the form of earned income credit? I know a single mom with 3 kids, who is not on welfare, but does get some foodstamps and medicaid. She works 38 hours a week and earns a little more than minimum wage, and do you know what she made for 2010? Around 12,000. She paid her rent and kept her kids fed and clothed and happy on that income. She is a really sweet person and I am not going to begrudge her for getting a nice tax refund, I believe working families like that deserve it.

Wait a minute. What I said is the low income Not all have all these children then get like 14 to 15 thousand dollars back in there income tax. I feel the goverment should alow them a certain amount. I know people who get this kind of money back and just blow it. There should be a cap on it or set in a kitty or given back to the welfare program to do as they see fit. This is pretty sad

I feel that if you work and are on assistance and you get a refund, then you should have to pay the government back.

For the mom that made 12,000 and paid her rent and kept her kids fed. How is that possible? If she is on food stamps and medicaid, then we kept her kids fed and medically sufficient.

The system is changing people. Give it time. I say that if we reduce welfare and medicaid, then it would send this trash out of our communities and let it be someone elses problem.

Are you serious?? Wow... I am truly just at a loss for words at how wrong and ignorant you people are being. Just.... Wow. I could cry out of frustration at the fact that you can lump people into this pile of trash and think it's okay to brush them off. Take myself for instance, working 40+ hours a week and so is my husband. We needed assistance at one time to make ends meet. We received a large tax return and put it towards our slow climb out of debt. I'll be damned if someone is going to judge me for having children and at the time getting assistance. This whole debate just turns my stomach, I get so upset... If you're lucky enough to have the brains to go to college and the job and the nice things in life then sit back and enjoy your life and count your lucky stars!! Why this seething hatred of those that receive assistance??? Is it jelousy over the tax return? Or a feeling of superiority because you're so wonderful and you've always had money?? What is it? I will never understand what drives you people to speak cruelly of those that are underprivileged. I just worked 16 hours and it's hard forme to even form a coherent thought at this point, but I just don't understand the ignorance of people feeling they're superior, and feeling as though it's their damn business how others live.

As far as I knew u can't claim foodstamps or cash assistance!
This thread comes up every tax season. If anyone who receives state benefits and has received a return, please enlighten us all, otherwise this thread is utterly pointless

If someone is getting any help what so ever and they get a tax refund, it should be turned over automatically to the department giving them the help.

ok taxpayer, so what happens if you get hurt and cannot work at whatever you do anymore.. suddenly you need help at the taxpayer's expense.. hmmmm, bet you wouldn't want to give your refund back.
There was an earlier comment about people getting back like 14,000. I never knew anyone who gets that much back, but if they blow it, at least they are helping the economy, aren't they? and who are we to judge how someone else spend the money that the government feel they deserve, otherwise they wouldn't have given the refund in the first place.
and to Old Lady and Pixie1987, I couldn't agree with your comments more.

TO PIXIE1987

OK Pixie, you feel that when you have a "bump" in life, the government, more specifically money from the tax payers, whould bail you out for poor financial planning?

The reason welfare, yes all government assistance is welfare, is a direct result of people not planning for the future and living far above their means. If you are living paycheck to paycheck, then something needs to be done so you are saving a little money. Possibly cutting back cable, not going out to eat all the time, losing the cell phone or GETTING ANOTHER JOB. Novel idea I know.

I for one am not out working to support those who can not manage their own lives and fall back onto my back, the working tax payer. I am sick of carrying your load.

it doesnt matter how many kids people have because you only get the earned income credit for 2 kids anyways, yes you can clam as many kids as you have but you wont get money back for all them but 2.

K guys heres the deal,if u get cash from welfare yes it does count against u at tax time,u have to claim that,so they dont pay u welfare money till they feel that money should runs out. Most ppl on full welfare get big tax money at tax time cause they take the deadbeat parents tax money and give it to the custodial parent, which also is claimed and counts against there welfare money. Most ppl that get cash from welfare and get a return wont get any cash from the state for at least a couple months.
Most ppl that work and get cash from the state is because of deadbeat parents. Most ppl would not even get welfare if the non-custodial paid the right support on time and in many cases these ppl wouldnt get help if the support was $25-50 more then the current support orders.U want something to b!tch about,b!tch about that. They courts keep telling welfare that they can only take what the state guidelines say and not what will keep all the parties off assistance. It is sick, most of these deadbeats spend more to keep there cable, gamesystems or cell phones on then they do in child support. How about b!tch about that. How about asking the state to change that practice, cause right there would be 25% of ppl on assistance gone from the state payroll.
