One correction to the story...it was not at Hwy 211 and Hwy 124, it was on 211 just past County Line Road.

Its lawsuit time. The truth will come out.

The cop spotted him at 211/124 while he was sitting there writing a report.
They're trying to figure out how the driver got the keys to the car, since he didn't own it. Stolen car? Or, did someone loan the car to this moron?

The cop haadn't even had time to engage in a pursuit. He had radioed for backup and was just getting in sight of the vehicle when the idiot murdered the other person driving the vehicle coming in the opposite direction. The only lawsuit should be against the moron's family for allowing him off of his leash.

The Braselton cops are lying. "Didn't have time" to engage in a pursuit? Huh? Barney chased the Camaro for FIVE miles. Way out of his jurisdiction. Trust me, 211 and Will Maynard road is NOT in Braselton (no matter how much land they have annexed in the last 15 years.) I SAW the cop-car go by and heard the description on a police scanner 30 seconds after I saw the blue strobes whiz by. The cop referred to a 10-80 [chase in progress] a split-second before the fatal crash. I know what I saw; I know what I heard. the Braselton cops are in CYA mode, big-time.

For the benefit of all you people in NY and Cincinnati: Highway 211 and Highway 124 intersect near I-85. This is, if you won't laugh, the "city limits" of podunk Braselton. Highway 211 intersects with County Line-Auburn/Mulberry road five miles away. the scene of the accident is where 211 intersects with Will Maynard Road, approximate 1/2 further.
The Braselton cop chased the Camaro for five miles. So much for the lying Braselton "cheif" who tries to say "he couldn't go from a dead stop to 100 miles an hour." Excuse me, but he had five miles to accelerate. Excuse me, chiuef, but I saw your Barney Fife fly by. and excuse me, you liar, but I heard him describe the the chase and the collision on the radio. I will be happy to testify as to the these facts under oath in open court.

Skep Tick is right I listened to the whole thing on a scanner, the wreck was about 6 or 7 miles from where the speeder was first spotted but still the speeder was the one at fault starting the whole thing.

So sick of these idiots speeding and driving recklessly and taking innocent lives. Feel free to kill your stupid selves, but don't kill others.

They can pursue outside of their jurisdiction. You can't evade a cop just by crossing a county line. You've watched "Porky's" one too many times. B> Let's do some basic cipherin', Jethro: 1. The moron was driving 100mph. That's 1.7 miles/minute. 2. It might take the cop about 15 seconds to react and get on the road then another 15 seconds to accelerate to 120mph, which is what it would take to close on a car going 100mph. 3. In that 30 seconds. the moron has gone .8 miles. You can't see .8 miles on that curvy road. So moron is almost a mile away before the closing even starts. 3. At a closing rate of 20mph, it's 3 minutes before the cop is even close enough to see. 4. In 3 minutes, moron has driven 5.1 miles. How far did you say it was to County Line Road? So the cop would have been just in range to see it right about there. Moron might not have even known there was a cop coming up on him. C. Since radio traffic is recorded, I seriously doubt they need your "expert" ear witness testimony. Go back to listening to your little scanner and dreaming up conspiracy and cover-up theories. The moron was 100% at fault in this. Not the cop. BTW: I live near Chateau Elan, so I'm very familiar with that road. My ISP gateway is in Cincinnati.

Alan wrote: <quoted text>True, this info may be incorrect, but my understanding is the high rate of speed was the initial reason for the stop. I don't doubt that high rate of speed was the initial reason for the stop. I am suspicious about the 100 mph claim. For many people it would not make a difference whether the car was initially being pulled over for 56 or 100, but for others, it is important to get correct info on this point.

What an idiot you are. The cops aren't at fault; stop trying to place blame on someone else. The idiot driving is the one to blame, dumbass. The police were doing what they could to get him off the road. And in any case, the moron was going 100 mph to begin with--what difference does it make if the cops were in pursuit? Take your dumbass back on to whereever you came from.

Now the What?Huh? bunch is calculating speeds/distances. First, however, let's see you admit you were WRONG for swallowing that "did not chase" lie. The Braselton cops are plainly disseminating untruths. No one said they could not pursue in different jurisdictions. Just that they DID, which they have not admitted. and, that, in many cases, it is not wise or prudent to do so. Riddle me this, Chateau Elan, why did not Braselton Barney radio Barrow county and alert them to a hazardous driver heading right into their hands in Winder? Many cop departments have a no-chase policy, for the very reason that it jeopardizes innocent motorists who might be caught up in just happened. And, this is no "conspracy" theory. I know what I saw (you weren't there, were you?), and i know what Iheard on the scanner. The Braselton cops are lying.
Of course, you aren't man enough to admit that you some basic facts wrong, and you don't even have Ohio residency as an alibi for for your ignorance. Of course, if you want, you can come to the scne of the crime, and I'll be happy to explain it to in person. How about it, big man? you can even bring your wife and cop-buddies if you're afraid.

Alan wrote: <quoted text> According to the article "The accident happened around 10 p.m. Sunday night shortly after a Braselton police officer saw a black Camaro speed by at about 100 miles per hour." True, this info may be incorrect, but my understanding is the high rate of speed was the initial reason for the stop. See my reply to Skep Tick. Using the landmarks he himself describes, the math supports the 100 MPH statement.
