Ah, it is super evil. It needs a shift change because it is attempting to take over everything. Target is coming to Hollister oh wait Branson can give tax cuts. Target is coming to Branson and now is established there. I Heart Hollister but it can't go no where if Branson continues to stomp down on it. Its just like that cartoon in the newspaper one time when Branson hogged all the toys and Hollister was crying with a lake right down the middle of them. Eventually Branson will have a rude awakining soon.

Branson is a unique place, along with the high sales tax rate at the Landing. Often time seems to be standing still in this part of Missouri. Springfield has lost it. Branson - I have to admit has more guts than Springfield. At least they are trying to add more jobs, places to shop etc. Springfield hasn't really got any new places outside of Battlefield Mall which was constructed in the 70s.
Branson could really come out on top if they could get manufacturing jobs into the town. Perhaps they could use some advertising money to put ads in China and bring some of the work back to the US.

You all are a cynical bunch. I'm stuck in south Texas not Toledo Ohio. The people from south of the border are taking over the jobs and only hiring people like themselves. They closed the local swimming beach because of idiots who get drunk, don't know how to swim and drown.
10 years ago, when I lived and worked around Branson, it was easy to find work. I found places to swim for free. I could get into shows for free by showing my paycheck stub. McGuffy's even had a Christmas party for us.
Branson is not evil. Victoria,in South Texas is. And the word "Evil" here, means that it is good.

I just recently moved out of Branson, that town really has something to be desired. The business owners are the most corrupt I have ever meet in my life. And the sad thing is that is just the way of life down there. I moved there to operate a business for a local resident, and in the end he never paid employee taxes and took insurance premiums out of our checks but the insurance was no good because his check would not clear. My point is that the way businesses run down there is down right criminal and it will never change.

Right now it is the dead of winter, all most everything is closed in Branson and the big wigs are down in Flordia vacationing or some other warm place and their employees are standing in line to get food to get by till they open places up in the spring. There are people that love this area but can't find a job that they can work all year. A casino in Rockaway Beach would give people year round jobs in Branson too. But then the big wigs couldn't leave when it gets cold.

I lived in Branson until 2 years ago and I agree that Branson does hold down everyone else around it. It does not want to see Hollister, Rockaway or any other town develop anything that might detract from Branson's tourism. Branson is controlled my a handful of fundies citing the gospel but stabbing anyone and everyone in the back to achieve their personal goals....money and power. Until people wise up and change the local govt, nothing will change there. Besides, people can shop anywhere...they go to Branson for the entertainment and at this point, the entertainment is full of has beens, 2nd rate talent and overpriced amusement rides. You can go to Disney for less money and have more fun without supporting the fundy hypocrisy.

You got that right. The wealthy become wealthier at the expense of those working for less than a living wage, brought about by a labor surplus created by large business owners promoting Branson as some sort of boom town. Well it is a boom town of sorts. It's what new arrivals do upon seeing the wage rates, high cost of living and a sales tax of nearly 8%!
30 years ago, Branson was a rustic laid back community where families could spend a week's vacation without breaking the back. Now, you hit the nail on the head, Branson SUCKS.

The tax rate at the new Target is 9.6% You know they have to fund that BLIGHTED area of Branson and give back to the Company that SAVED that area.

What about the Landing, isn't that supposed to save Branson from desolation. And the big businesses that the city is going to save us by giving them TIFs guess what? Their now hiring at $6.50 per hr. and that's all year round. Wow. You dont even have to work with the tourist. That's progress.Branson does need a big industrial park and done the right way, Hollister is trying to do it right, but I think the branson officials are officially too busy with the "buddy system" behind closed doors.Gotta know one to be one.

Besides Bass Pro and Belk how many people are working at the other stores at the Landing? Maybe 2-5 people each. Not enought to keep everyone off welfare and out of the lines at the pantries.A casino in Rockaway Beach would employ thousands of workers at the casino, resturants, theathers, motels, resorts, stores within 40+ miles everyday of the year. There has to be smart business people out there that aren't afraid of the "Family".

I disagree. Gambling is NOT the answer. They bring in their own crews and management. The main population that gambles are those that can't afford to gamble, that puts more stress on the pantries in the area. And what about escort services and prostitution that always is around casinos. This area should not go there. We need year round industry and industrial parks. Nixa and Ozark is coming this way we need to capitalize on that. If something goes in it needs to be workable on year round. That's one prob with the landing, go shop now and freeze your tail off walking form one shop to the other. It wasn't planned very well, we just better all pray the convention center works, there's a lot of tax dollars that went to private developers and if it fails the tax payers or going to continue to pay.

When a new resturant opens they bring in workers from another resturant to train the local and then go back to where they came from, same thing.I have been to casinos in St.Louis,IL and never have I seen prostiution going on. That is a myth that anti groups want people to believe. I have seen people sell their food stamps for cigs and beer never for a lottery ticket.Rockaway Beach doesn't have the land to put a industrial park. Las Vegas has more conventions then anywhere else in the US.
There is not much to do in Branson at night unless you want to go to a show and back to your room at 10:00.

Prostitution, bankruptcy, divorce, and the poor Rockaway Beach kids. I would not like to see the children of Rockaway Beach grow up around a bunch of no good people who gamble and get drunk. Branson suck yes, but a casion is no good for this area. We will have the business men and women come to the casion yes. We will have the people who can't afford to go to the casino as well. Next thing you know your bankrupt. What about your kid what are you going to do to feed them. We don't have a homeless shelter in Branson. Branson is up and going form about 10AM to 10:00 PM during the spring time than it gets going from about 9:00AM to 1:00AM durning the summer and early fall. So Branson has good hours for the Summer for people to entertain itself with Put Put, Resturants, The Track, Wax Musum, Souviner stores, walking down the strip, and the lake. Those things are open into the morning hours in the summer time, the hike of the season. Why go gamble way out in Rockaway Beach. I wounder how many people would be in car accidents driving back to Branson at 3AM in the morning because of the curvy roads and to add on top of that being depressed becasue they were stupid to gamble in the first place, drinking too much, or being to tired to make it home. Sounds like a bad idea to get one. Rumor has it that the Herschands have bought land over their just incase the battle is lost and a casino dose go in they will profit off it by building something over there. Who wants to give the Herchands another way to make more money?????? No matter what some people will just idol the casino as the savior to the area for year long jobs with benefits ooo darn it I bet they are going to do some screwy things and lots of people wont get the benefits that were promised in the advertisement to vote yes on the issue. If it passes good for Rockaway Beach, but they will be competing with the Branson Landing casino and I bet the Rockaway Beach one will hurt. Just a thought whoohahahahahahahaha

Here! Here! Great points! Maybe the plan is for Sammy Lane to turn into a waterfront casino and then travel back and forth from Branson to Rockaway Beach. Just specualating!

Hey if the Herschends are buying land, who else?

why offer benefits? they don't have to folks would work there just for the perks.
