concerned citizen wrote: If you knew or heard of a patient that went to Skaggs very recently and got the wrong heart valve replaced, from a source in the room, but the information was not acurately given to the patient, should you tell him about the "cover-up", or wait for the hospital to admit the mistake publicly and discipline the heart team that performed the incorrect procedure. The OR crew involved were warned not to speak out on threat of their jobs. Some are anyway. The board of directors is directly responsible for the current sorry state of affairs at that 'hospital', and any administration member who participates in a cover-up should be removed. Quality is about hard work, not about cheap labor. I heard a lawsuit was recently filed against the same surgeon for a recently and poorly performed operation, the patient went in with kidneys normal and out with permanent dialysis. The board of this hospital is not protecting this community if it does not act in the face of evidence of mistakes, or negligence or just sloppy bad work. Concerned, the really bad heart doc left a year ago, went to Fayettville I heard, so watch out!!

I will. I will also continue to hope for the best for Skaggs and the people it serves. The recent experiences of the majority on this or other posting sites suggest that a buyout by a larger entity would help recapitalize the old clunker, and make treatment safer there. Have a nice day, and if you have a heart attack just say "St. John's please, and hurry"! If you do go to Skaggs, bring a mop and a cell phone to contact family members to attend to your needs.

NO,but I have close relative at Skaggs and was a manager there for years. I am still concerned about the hospital and my "home town". Dont know what individual you are talking about, but the poor quality of the hospital is the issue.

I have a friend who went to skaggs and when all was said and done she owes them almost $9,000 in bills for test that said she would never have any kids and she just had her first son almost 5 months ago. Really makes you wonder about the supposed test that they make you pay so much for.

Doctor finally comes in to see her about 10. good, not long there. Then it was another TWO HOURS before anone else came back to let Us know what how or who. 1 little pill and we were out of there. almost a total of 4 and a half hous to be sent off, no test, nothing but a freaking pill. WTF?? can two doctors not take a bit of time to get the nurses going, or should that be a matter of administration? All I know is, next time, I can wait till the St. Johns clinic opens the next day, or drive up to COX in Springfield. Wasted time not again to be seen. FOR THE TIME U WASTED, you really should of RESEARCHED it! The net has TONS of FREE INFO; or better yet, VISITED A HEALTH FOOD STORE. Hospitals are the LAST PLACE on earth you want to get 'help' from. IT'S ALL POLITICS!

Im so sorry for your loss. But please dont do anything stupid to them. Which is why i recomend, DONT GET MAD, GET EVEN! Since information is EMPOWERMENT, u can SPREAD the word about how CARELESS this so called hospital is. Personally, if it were me, here's what i would do. I would make COPIES of this thread,(cause NOT EVERYONE IS AWARE OF THIS THREAD) & distribute it, like on parked cars AT THE HOSPITAL. The only thing is; it's considered personal property. So you would have to be very carefull about doing it. AND NOT POST THEM ON HOSPITAL EMPLOYEE CARS.(they all have a specific place for emplyee parking) HOPE THIS HELPS, & DONT DO ANYTHING DUMB! Just think, YOU MIGHT EVEN SAVE A FEW LIFES

State Medical Board is investigating heart surgeon currently working at Skaggs for replacing the wrong heart valve in a patient several months ago. Recent claims by the hospital to have the #1 cardiac surgery program in Missouri was based on results from work done by others who no longer work at Skaggs. This is false advertising. Read the unfortunate story of Bob and Maxine Campbell on the front page of the Branson Paper, That poor family was told by sick hospital they were going to be operated by "the best". Wasnt true in September 2009, thats for sure.
