Bobby,

Would you be an owner? I am just suggesting since you want us to review a restaurant that has not opened yet.....just a guess, perhaps I am wrong....

food, service, ambiance, and staff are great. It will be a great place in the summer with the live music and outside seating.

The 3 of us had dinner there last night. The place is small, the acoustics are horrible, it sounded like everyone was screaming. There were plenty of waitresses but they stood around talking to each other. We ordered drinks, they were good. Ordered mussels, clams on a half shell and a crab thing for an appetizer. The mussels WERE COLD, the clams were warm and the crab thing was luke warm and tasted just ok.

We waited a longggggg time for the appetizers and in between they got a salad that looked stupid. No class, no style, stupid. We waited for our dinner while discussing that we would never come back. Got more drinks. Meanwhile, the waitresses are milling around the podium that is in the restaurant.

Dinner came, we got one swordfish that was the size of a deck of cards, not even that thick and a baked potato. No garnish, no veggie no salsa, no nothing. We got a lobster roll, which was OK and I got fried scallops and french fries. Mine was good. Large scallops and french fries were great. I'm convinced, no one could ruin french fries.

Got the bill. It was $170 with tip. NEVER, NEVER AGAIN. I'd wait on line for hours at Lenny's or the Dockside rather than go to that place again. They will not do well, they don't know what they are doing. It wasn't even busy and we waited so long for our dinner.

Someone better learn what they are doing and the owner better pay better attention if he wants to succeed

I have no idea what Lyn from Burlington is talking about. The place looks fantastic, the food is great, and the people are friendly. If three people have apps, dinner and 2 drinks the bill at 170.00 incl tip doesnt seem high to me. If you dont like it you shouldnt go back, but you shouldnt post a comment like that. I cant wait to go back when the patio is open.

Went tonight (3/26)for the first time. This place will probably be crowded all summer, but it will have to do more to keep the locals coming next winter. The menu is basic, but uninspired and unoriginal. Surprisingly, it is as if they copied Lenny's menu from across the street. Negatives: Iceberg lettuce salad. No veggies with the entree. The place is too loud and has no soundproofing. Parking is impossible. Positive: fresh shrimp, fresh rolls. Mango's is so much better, though.

Friendly, happy place! Great service, delicious food, good drinks and lots of appetizers. Best calamari I've ever had! Good to see Branford will have a new outdoor place for the summer!

Scallops, shrimp, clams, calamari, and everything tastes SO fresh & delicious.

I have been here 3 times and although I order the same thing each time-The king pot which includes a whole lobster, crab legs and steamers with corn and potato all for 28.95 it is well worth it(amoungst others who have tried an array of other menu items and loved it)!!We brought someone there for her birthday and the manager came over with three different kinds of dessert for the table at no charge. The staff is extremely friendly and our meals always come out in a very timely manner. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood because they do have quite an extensive menu for that. It will be even better I am sure when the deck is open and the music is playing!!

I cannot believe this place is associated with Mango's. What a disappointment after experiencing Mango's food. The food we had seemed as though it had been frozen and then microwaved. It was very disappointing, from the ice cold bread, salad from a bag to the disgusting stuffed shrimp. I completely agree with Lynn. The waitress would not even ask if we wanted anything, she knew we were not happy. Do they even have a full kitchen? I would have loved to have seen it. Can't people tell that some of the food is not freshly cooked? Very surprising!

I agree with the reviewer. As a lifetime shoreline resident, I have tasted good seafood and this is not it. I went on a night where there were only 3 other tables in the restaurant, and the acostics were so bad, I couldn't even hear a friend across the table talking. The service was alright but nothing spectacular.

I found that the food was the worst part. I left feeling like I could have whipped up a much better meal in my own home. The calamari was not fresh tasting at all. For dinner, the 4 shrimp I recieved on a plate taste like they were coated in some old bay seasoning and thrown together. My friend had the hamburger, that tasted alright, but was a sloppy mess. My son ordered the macaroni and cheese, and as a boy who eats everything, he wouldn't even touch it.

If you want real seafood, Lenny's is absolutly a better choice. It's not worth the cheap decor , in adequate food, or loud noise.

I thought it was a very nice atmosphere and a great place to hang out with friends in the summertime and have ONLY a couple of drinks. But.....when we got our food it tasted just ok. But I'm warning everyone that my brother-in-law and I had the sole dish and we both ended up getting VERY stomach sick. He was sick within 2 hours and I was sick All Night Long and the next day. I'm sorry for reporting this and I feel bad for the owners, but I don't want anyone else getting sick. It only opened up 2 months ago and people are already getting sick! Watch out people! I should probably tell the owners instead of this post.

couldn't hear a thing in this place. from the inside to the outside, i was getting a headache from every direction. and the mediocre food didn't help. good thing they serve ridiculously small portions so you don't have to eat much.

This place sucks, the live music is so loud, you can't even talk and the food is mediocre at best. Sitting outside means sitting right next to a busy road, nice.

I totally disagree with Jim! The live music on Saturday was GREAT! Tell me where you will find a comfortable, place like the Cottage in NY! Apparently he was bored if he noticed a busy road. Had he been listening to the good music he would have never noticed! Our food was delicious too. We look forward to returning to the Cottage.

I signed on especially to leave a positive review about our new favorite restaurant. We had always been fans of Mango's and when we heard that the owners were opening another shoreline restaurant...we couldn't wait to check it out.
We were VERY pleased with the ambiance, the waitstaff, and especially the food. Although we were there prior to the patio being opened, we could already picture going back for an outdoor gathering soon. Looking forward to doing that!!

In the meantime... I swear I would cry RAT... with any negative reviews about this new restaurant. I have to say that perhaps friends of local competitors are in action, fearing compitition from a hot new local venue.

Give this restaurant a fair shot. Check it out for yourself!! I highly recommend The Blue Cottage... and I am speaking as an independent local patron. NOT as someone who may feel akin to a competitor, or The Blue Cottage.

Enjoy!!

PS. I too enjoyed the Cottage Pot, as well as the Crab Cakes. The clams on the half shell were very fresh, and the salad was definitely NOT out of a bag... how could you even think that? I know that the seafood coming in is fresh. I ASKED the question. It tasted fresh, as well. In fact it was probably the freshest seafood I have had locally, in a VERY long time. We have definite plans to go back soon. Can't wait to see the patio.

Don't listen to me... But... DON'T listen to the negatives either...(judge for yourself)

We give The Blue Cottage BIG Thumbs UP!!!!

I do not work or own a restaurant. I was telling the truth. I would ONLY go there for drinks and music. I do like the atmosphere, but not the food.

Where there is smoke, the is fire. Why do people continue to give this place bad reviews. I would welcome another restaurant in the area. Remember Backwater Tavern? That was a great place until it was sold and competed well in the area. Something is askew.
