Weapons in Prince George's School

As of today, it has been 41-days, since a student at Gwynn Park High School brought a weapon to school. The new principal, Carletta Teresa Lawson-Marrow have place other children at risk, and may be opening up an avenue for other students to bring in guns and knifes. The student who brought in the knife has not been suspended. This gentleman got away with a knife and the next time it may be a gun. School official like this principal is the reason why we have VA TECH Shooting. What is this 34-year-old principal saying to other students? Is Mrs. Lawson-Marrow opening doors to other students to disobey the rules? She is sending a negative message and Gwynn Park High School, in Brandywine Maryland, is waiting for a tragedy to transpire before something is done? What is the school’s CEO doing “nothing”. Mrs. Lawson-Marrow is an inexperience principal with no skills and little sense. Mrs. Lawson-Marrow came from Northwestern High School last year with less than two years of being a vice principal. Since she has been the principal at Gwynn Park High, Mrs. Lawson-Marrow has made poor chooses. Several parents have complained about her ghetto character. Students and staff members have stated that when she speaks to you, she frequently refers to you as babe, and when she greets you it’s ‘what’s up”. Mrs. Marrow walks around the school with strawberry-purple hair. Mrs. Marrow has broken the rules and frequently lies about what takes place at her school. Mrs. Marrow continues to cover up lies for her vice principal (Mrs. Silva) Special Ed Chair person (Mrs. D. Mayfield) the school’s investigator (E.Tedeso) and herself. She also has an auto mechanic teacher, named Mr. Charles Gibson that created a bogus complaint for the student that brought in the weapon. Mr. Gibson stated the boy had a wrench and now has withdrawn his statement because another teacher stated that he wasn’t in the shop at the time the incident took place. Mrs. Marrow has unjustly expelled the other student from school that protected him self from the weapon. Mrs. Carletta Lawson-Marrow and her husband Ricky Marrow Jr. have been unstable for years in Virginia, DC and Maryland. While she continues to bring her marital problems to school, she is graduated from Calvin Coolidge High School in Washington DC with unacceptable manners as a professional. Her college education is questionable because Mrs. Marrow claimed to have been attending two colleges at the same time.(Virginia University and American University in DC) My question is to you; do we really want this type of principal in our school system? Why haven't Dr. Nancy Grasmick or Dr. John Deasy done anything? Signed The Real Scoop! 8 Comments | Add a Comment

In May 2007, another child came to school with a knife and cut a child. We need to hold the Mrs. Marrow accountable for the school and security....

I was a teacher there for almost 10 years. The school has gone downhill since 2000....they need a strong black male principal and a strong black female as one VP....the school is old and needs a new physical plant.
Violence must be dealt with immediately....I was glad to retire. The place wore me out.
The article is full of grammatical errors. My students had to proofread! Security is solid...Tedesco is very good.

How about you talk to your kids about the rules of your own household and discipline them enough to the point were the thought of stabbing another student wouldnt even be in there minds and maybe this madness wouldnt be going on;-We are students @ GPHS which means we deal with the constant report of fights, drug deals, complaints of sexual abuse and other things that SHOULD NOT be going on at a High School. Yes Mrs. Marrow is the principal and she is responsible for our well being while at school but.....you all as parents are responsible as well even more so than MRS.MARROW. Take responsibility for your OWN kids and stop blamming the administration for something that you all as PARENTS should have taught your kids from day one.

Ms. Marrow is doing a horrible job this year. She has everyone on some track. She made the staff moves rooms.com e on people that have been in their rooms for over 30 years. She just crazy. And about all that drama that happens she does not make the right decision at times, along with her assistant principles.

Don't understand what her age, the color of her hair and graduating from Coolidge have to do with whether or not she's capable of doing the job. She greets the kids with what's up? So what that doesn't mean they won't respect her.

I am a student at gwynn park and even though Mrs. Marrow does have her flaws.... WHO DOESNT???? If she wants her hair a certain color, oh well! It's HER hair.. Where she comes from and her marital problems is no ones business but hers. Marriage isn't perfect and anyone who is married knows this.

About the knife incident: It is not Mrs. Marrows fault that happened. This can only be prevented but so much in a high school. I knew the boy who defended himself and I admit he should not have been expelled but its about that time to get over it.. I'm pretty sure he did.

Classrooms: She also should not have changed teacher's classrooms but I must also admit that it has cut down on the skipping of classes.

Greetings: I personally don't mind the way she greets us in the halls. She knows a large percentage of the students names and, in my book, that's pretty good. The fact that she is informal with us makes her more personable.

So with all of that said, leave her alone.

When I attended Gwynn Park, we didn't have society the way it is now. The students were alot more respectable. Alot of times, you can't blame things on the school CEO. The discipline of the students starts at home. We, as parents need to take hold of our children. Teaching them the correct way at home will have alot of impact on the way they act in school or in public.

It is very sad that parents are not parenting. I don't know the full story about suspending one student and not the other but I'm sure the principal is aware of he situation. The administration is not responsible for the violence in the schools. Her age, marital status, and the like is not our business. It is your business to make sure that your child comes to school well behaved, prepared and ready to learn. Period.

im a senior at gwynn park and i have to say the school has changed alot. ms marrow and i dont get along, i dont respect her but the color of her hair or the way she greets STUDENTS doesnt matter. we would rather someone say "whats up" bacuse that makes us more comfortable. her problems at home shouldnt be displayed like that. shes changed gwynn park alot, even though shes inexperienced.

It would be easier to take your comments seriously if you used better grammar. I realize it's the "cool" thing to do, but if you don't want to be dismissed as some ignorant complainer, clean up your act.

I agree with you 100%. We did not have these problems back in the 80's. I do not know if our parents were different in raising us than we are in raising our own children. I know that I spend a tremendous amount of time at home with my kids trying to teach them the same morals my parents taught me. Guns and knives had nothing to do with it. Mrs. Cunningham was a wonderful principal, probably one of the best. She did not teach me my morals, my parents did.

When I went to school..it was pretty much automatic,if you got caught with a weapon,it was an automatic expulsion! This lax form of education is going on in all P.G. County schools and nothing will be done about it until someone gets killed.

Daily Horoscope for December 3

Scorpio

This is not the easiest day for concentrating on what needs to be done, whether tackling those Christmas cards and letters, writing out a list of jobs, or getting on with other urgent work. Mental activity seems to be blocked, as Mars is slowing and Mercury is under cosmic pressure. Take some time out for meditation, or reflection, and let your subconscious do the work.
