Language barriers in court might lead to S.D. standards

A South Dakota Supreme Court committee is studying how to create a statewide set of standards for courtroom interpreters.

There was a time when all immigrants, who came to this country and became citizens, had to learn English. How can they function in this country without it???

This is what should be done. We will ask that all people coming to lie and work in this country learn English. We would ask kindly. If they refuse and get into trouble and are required to have an interpreter, then, they should pay the cost of that interpreter, all of it.
