There is no such guarantee, and people live in the present, not the future. If the fetus doesn't have a brain, then it's not alive.

No, some illiterate preacher-man told you this and you just swallowed it with the kool-aid.

There is exactly one mention of fetuses in the bible, and it refers to what happens when a man causes a woman to lose her pregnancy. The terrible punishment for this unforgivable crime? The husband gets to set a reasonable fine. That's IT. THAT is all the regard your book has for a fetus, period.

There is a term for that: buttinsky.

I see a need to tell children that their parents and churches lie to them because there is no god.

How about if those that are pro-choice seek out abortions if they feel its needed and those that are pro-life not seek out abortions if they feel its not needed.
And just leave each other alone and let God judge?
And focus all this negative energy into finding the cures to the bigger ills of the world rather than continually creating them amongst each other over something we will never find common ground on. EVER.
Fred, that's an excellent & loving approach. Thank you for the note of rationality combined with compassion.

I assume you're referring to the story of Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, and Mary, the mother of Jesus, while both were pregnant?

"And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:"
Luke 1:39-41

As much as you would like this to mean that all fetuses are sentient persons because one is recorded as knowing Mary's words and then leapt inside the womb, the logic is as flawed as the Isaiah misquote. Biblically, this is a miraculous event. It describes a divine prophet whom God had ordained since before he was conceived. And this time it's even more miraculous, because the gestating John the Baptist is reacting to the approach of Mary, who at the time was pregnant with Jesus. Unless you believe all of us are chosen before birth to be the divine prophet ordained by God to herald the arrival of Christ on earth, then you cannot claim this passage refers to every fetus -- it does not. While gestating fetuses are known to move and kick as their nervous systems and muscles are under construction, only divinely-inspired babies understand the spoken words of the mother of Jesus and can leap in recognition. Try again, fool.

The fact that God is all knowing, almighty, and all loving He has especially chosen each and every one of us. Every hair on our head is numbered (DNA) and He knows every one of them before, during, and after.

Fair enough. So what happens when the person, whom YOU have decided you are going to help, after YOU starting to offer the help, tells you to PISS OFF? Do you insist in helping? Do you walk away condemning them for not allowing them to help you? Do you simply walk away without saying anything? Which is it Choozie?

Then evidently your god is intensely stupid--he knows fetuses are going to be aborted and doesn't prevent the pregnancy in the first place. If he is all-knowing, he knows that the woman in question WILL abort.

He might also want to explain why, if fertilized eggs are people, he allows 75% of them to be flushed away with the first menstruation. Unless, of course, he's just too dumb to prevent it, being all-powerful and all.

Seems as though you are attached to whatshisface... I do find it amusing that it does open up a corridor for conversation - Vlad! The! Impaler! Best to you Mr. Ginsu!

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Leo

If you ask someone to give you a hand today, don't be surprised if they make a mess of it. That's probably because their mind isn't on the job, but it might also be because your instructions aren't as clear as usual. So before you get angry, check that what you said made sense. Relations with someone older or more influential than you could also be blighted by confusion or doubt now.
