About 15 years ago I traveled up Mississippi Highway 9 near Oxford, it was 4-laned back then & nobody used it. Almost nobody uses US 45 from Meridian north to Tupelo. There's nothing really in Tupelo or the Golden Triangle besides a few furniture factories & sawmills & one military base.

Why do we need to 4-lane all these roads-to-nowhere? Many of these country roads up there in the central & northern part of the Mississippi may get a few hundred cars a week, that's it.

And the article quotes a guy who owns a construction company from one 'of the richest families in Mississippi.' LOL

Yea -- ask somebody who's gonna make money off the contracts his opinion if the thing is good or not....
