This highlights what kind of a mean and officious society we have become.

An attorney having to be used for a $13.95 book!

The attorneys love this kind of a world; he can charge $50-$100. for his part.

The library is the villian here and the head of the library needs to be looked at.

This should have been handled at that level, with the librarian calling, or going to the home, if needed to collect the book or the value of it.

Then, the library surely has an attorny or one they use who could have made a phone call, and/opr a letter and that should have resolved it.

The attorney could have said, "Look, you return the book and pay $c. 13. bucks, or you will have pay an attorney c.$100.

If that didn't work, how about just banning the person from checking out books in the future and go on with this crazy thing called living

The hippies had it right, but we lost it.
