West Boca: family's lawsuit accuses Sheriff's Office of illegal...

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

It was 1 a.m. when the doorbell rang at the McDonald family home. Deputies rushed in screaming: "Get down, Get everyone down!" After detaining the family for three hours in their home, the deputies left, deciding it was the wrong address.

Never let armed men into your home unless they come with a warrant, then dont talk.

Why three hours in a home? What do you look for in 3 hours, I mean, it just takes 5 minutes to walk over to an enclosed garage and see if the stolen car is in there...but wait, there was no stolen car, no stolen stuff. So if you ar elooking for 3 fleeing criminals in one home, ok, its not Aaron Spelling's 14,000 sq ft mansion, but prob a 3000 sq ft home, which can be searched in max 30 minutes; but if searched by dog, in about 5 minutes. Dogs are so good about scent...it is said that police dogs can sense not only the pizza, but the anchovies, the cheese, the olives, the pepper, etc...

this all sounds so inept. Max ten minutes in their house, excuses the mix up...but staying 3 hours is definitively a South American military police way of harming people intentionally for the sake of exerting power over the scared masses.

Hell, the homeowners should have charged the Sheriff for rent...

The problem was PBSO probably realized immediately they had f'd up and spent the next 3 hours looking for anything they possibly could to charge these people with to divert attention from their "mistake". Happens all the time.......
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's office, half as smart and twice as crooked at the people they chase!!!

When I lived in California 20 years ago the local sheriff raided the house next door to me. It was the wrong house and as a law enforcement officer in the military I went over to tell them where the house was they were looking for. They chased me away, told me to mind my own business or get arrested. They too stayed three hours looking for anything to bust my neighbors for, they found nothing. My neighbors were good GOD fearing Christians who didn't even drink. They offered my neighbors a new door and a free tour on the new sheriff's station. They sued instead of taking the tour. The bag guy watched everything go down from his house and hide his drugs somewhere else. They didn't follow the 6 P's. Prior Planning Prevents P*ss Poor Performance.

Typical chest-thumpin', knuckle-dragging, mouth breathing dimwits. Worse yet, where was the numbnuts supervisor of any rank whose job it is to provide command oversight so abuses like this don't occur? Probably right there with the stormtroopers getting in on the abuse of members of the public they despise and demean, often and publicly,(in fact several should show up here shortly to spew their venom on anyone with enough nerve to comment on their activites. Or he was hiding out somewhere ensuring he didn't get cross-ways with any of his union brothers - wouldn't want to get a rep as a disciplinarian.

Of course, our glorious Sheriff was nowhere to be found, probably shopping for an Iron Horse and wondering what "citizen" (a lower form of life in PBSO speak) was trying to publicize his home address.

As MXB noted - half as smart and twice as crooked as the people they deal with...

That's why those chest thumpers are always wearing those gloves, to keep from scraping their dragging knuckles......makes sense to me, maybe they do have half a brain.

Everything you are asking has to be predicated on the idea that WHAT THE FAMILY IS SAYING IS TRUE. THAT is EXACTLY what needs to be ESTABLISHED. But instead of asking WHETHER the family's allegations are true, you are assuming that they are, and then asking "why" the deputies did what they allegedly did.

You are putting the cart before the horse. First you have to find out whether that stuff even did happen!

Somebody actually called the police because a car alarm went off? and they showed up, Wow, Then when it was determined that "NOTHING" was stolen(at all) or from the car, They call dogs in, Why? Situation was over. Then to burst into someone's home and hold them hostage for 3 hours calling them criminals and other vile crap, You might as well get the check book out now on this one.

This is the very first legitimate get rich at home process I've ever seen, Can you come to my house next.

They approached the house with guns drawn, but then reholstered them upon entering the house? That makes zero sense. The police had no clue what was behind the door so they decided to enter with guns holstered. Someone's lying. And why stay at the home for three hours? How long does it take to figure out the dog screwed up?

This is your money..You would think in this day and age, with all the funds these police departments cry and moan for, something as this would only happen in movies..all the technology all the bodies the taxpayer funds, who are these people?

Can someone tell me why with all the bad guys running the streets, something so "gestapo like" could happen? I would love to hear an answer from Law Enforcement on this one...whats wrong with you people?

Not likely on overtime. Most likely it was the night crew; full of coffee, bored as heck and just itching for some action to make the night go quicker...

Sounds like warrior wannabes. The militarization of the police is a threat to our freedoms.

If you want to be a warrior join the Marines and face real dangers and hardships. Until then, keep the peace, prevent crime, and protect the innocent.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Aries

Someone wants to go their own way today and they won't care whose feathers they ruffle in the process. It's a lunar eclipse at the Full Moon in Cancer, so let them get on with it. The last thing you should do now is to hang on to their coat-tails or do anything else that will make them feel restricted. Make it plain that you've got your own fish to fry, thank you very much. And try not to let it stop you enjoying yourself. Have a great night!
