I live in Random Oaks off Bloomingdale east of Providence and our neighborhood is in the crime watch about every week. My Family and I were victims in August 2007. Truck tool box lock was busted out and over $1000.00 of tools were stolen (which my Husband used daily on his job) I read in crime trackers today that our neighborhood had several auto thefts on 02/25/08 reported.
We have added security lights, cameras and making sure things are secure as much as we can.

"He says a navigation system and a brand new Sony Play Station 3, still in the box, were stolen."

Uh huh. Suuure. If I had a brand new PlayStation 3 I'd keep it in my car on the street, too.

I live in a subdivision that has been targeted. They have been going up 301 for some time now and it really irritates me that people think they can just steal what other people work so hard to buy. Get a JOB and be a contributing member of society.

That's what happens when investors buy up property and rent out to section 8. Most of these people are coming from the Central Park projects that have been torn down. The Villages of Bloomingdale used to be a nice property until investors and Premier Builders and Rizzetta Co brought in nasty, dirty section 8 welfare rejects.

I live in Lakeside right off 301 and Symmes RD in Riverview and our area has been hit 4 times in the past 4 years. The last time, 2007, my wife heard them breaking a car window across the street and we went out side and saw them. I got the 1st 3 digits of the plate on the late model White Cadillac Escalade with personnal US Army Florida plates. I was tod by officers that they were unable to find the vehicle. Please I worked as a desk SGT and with those items, it should have been easy? All of our hits were between, 0200 and 0400 in the mornings.

All of you are 100% correct about the section 8 renters.Boyette creek is a prime example.I have family that bought in there when it was brand new and beautiful,Now the entire back section is like a freaking gang movie from los angeles.Glock has the right idea! But if I catch one of these punks Im gonna taze
them every three seconds untill the police show up.

When I bought my house in Summerfield off Big Bend road it was a very nice community. Now all I see are punks walking down the middle of the street taking their time moving out of your way. I had an open house last weekend, yes I'm moving because of section 8, and no one showed up. Come to find out that some punks took one of the open house signs with balloons on it just for the hell of. Hence you wouldn't know where to turn without that sign. 8'ers don't take care of their yards, leaves trash out, have people over at all hours of the night. They just care about themselves and their cars. I can't wait to get outta this once nice hood!

I live in Summerfield also. I have the same complaints, and the only reply I get from the people that take our HOA money is "The house is in forclosure, there is nothing we can do".

I grew up in public housing and it is all about the values you teach your children. My mom stressed education, religion, and self-respect. My mom would take us to the nicer parts of town to let us know that if we work hard we can have a better life. She also got us in a better school district than what we were zoned for. She forced us to college/military. I buy my first home in what I thought was a nice neighborhood built in 2004. I found out that the home was broken into prior to me purchasing. Months later they broke into my home again. Section 8 teenagers later arrested. Things have changed. We would appreciated living in a nice hood back in the 80's. These kids and parents believe that society owes them and that they can do whatever they want. They need to overhaul Section 8 and only allows screened deserving families who want a better life. Let the ones who don't stay where they are. Meanwhile..I am moving!!!

I am completely and utterly appalled by your statement. This is the reason that racism in America will never die! For your information Black Americans do not account for the majority of people on Section 8. Not sure where you live but sounds like the people there do not value home ownership. I live in a community with a large minority presence and everyone takes care of their yard!! Sounds like your not surrounding yourself with the right people. I hope you will educate yourself before posting another statement like that!!!!!!!!1

I grew up in Riverview, but moved away more than 20 years ago. It was nice when I was there, sad to see it go to pot.

I will not lie but I would not buy property in which is a majority minorities, I am not racist but the truth is in the numbers unfortunately the neighborhood goes down hill quickly, the one exception is trailer parks as they can be just as bad with 100% white. That is not discrimination it is just fact unfortunate but def true.....

I went to look at a condo at Villages at Bloomingdale and then a townhouse. The townhouse is beautiful and i just put in an offer. I noticed a lot of african americans, and then thought never crossed my mind that there are section 8 people living there. Is that still the case? Like what is the percentage?

I live in a condo in villages of bloomingdale and the percentage is very high, black section 8 as trashy as trash can be. Im about ready to sell this place at a loss just to get away from these lowlife scumbags. The hoa fees are definitely not worth what you get here, you are paying for all the section 8 trash and all the people that don't pay their fees. its a total disgrace. the hoa companies have changed so many times of the years and the only thing that has stayed constant is their ineptitude and the lowlife scumbag trash factor of the people that live here. please take the advice of someone that has lived here for years and do not move here.
