looked on BBB web site. BBQ was started in 2000
with only 300 bikers.. I think Jane and Claude
were involved with FS tourism or what ever at that time, or shortly after.

The last cruse night on Townson 12- or so years ago. They said ..no more cruse nights, the gathering of 8-9K people is to big for us.

Barlings recent cruse night had 3-4,000 in town
on a Sat. night. One conv. store reported they were up over $5,000 in sales that night.

Our town turned down the annual cross country
event by Hot Rod magazine. They told them "we don't want 1,500 to 2,000 of those hot rodders in
our town. They changed the route to go thru Tulsa.

I have stopped getting pissed over it. I just go spend money in those towns that are open to change. Tulsa and NWA etc...

someone said that gosack, jane, and legris were up in NW Arkansas at the bikes, blues, and barbeque event but they are probably several years and several billions of dollars in economic impact late in helping fort smith. these clowns are always ex-post-facto in everything that they do and fort smith taxpayers are paying these clowns hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to promote fort smith. we have the comatose A/P(claude), downtown development(jane) economic development (tracy w), and gosack nosack who is supposed to be directing these people who get paid big bucks by the taxpayers but produce very little. guess they all play "follow the leader". sad isn't it?

everyone should be asking them why there is no bikes, blues, and barbeque event in fort smith? it only made an economic impact on Fayetteville of maybe 1 billion dollars. doesn't fort smith need jobs?

the times record article listed the convention center as losing another huge amount of taxpayer money in august, 2013. it listed income at about 43,000 dollars and expenses at over 100,000 dollars. the taxpayers of fort smith were hosed again by legris and crew so one must wonder what a "bikes, blues, and barbeque event could have done to offset those huge losses of taxpayer money? maybe if old claude would plan more events instead of doing all those local talk shows, this horrible trend could be reversed. pssst claude, the bikes blues, and barbeque event in NW Arkansas caused almost a billion dollars in economic impact to fayetteville. why did you discourage the event from coming to the fort smith area?
how bad is it

claude and jane turned down the billion dollar economic impact event for fort smith so maybe its time that someone at the A/P, economic development, and downtown development, start earning their 100,000+ dollar per year salaries! to make matters worse, lofty sanders just gave legris a huge raise. duh! suggestion for the gang of 0's is: bikes, burgers, beer, and wild west days for fort smith or maybe bikes, blues, and burgers, or maybe bikes, bandits, and burgers! are you dead heads hearing the message that a billion dollars in spending would be good for fort smith? wake the hell up!

if there is an event in fort smith and it is successful, willing to bet that gosack, legris, and jane will try to take credit for its success! so what new?

Even if the fossilized stewards of Fort Smith somehow came to life....it would still not compensate for all the neglectful mismanagement which has plagued our town. Let's not "toy" with mother nature by encouraging the same old specimens to regenerate into what may prove to be viral. Fire them all and start anew. They blew it. No second, check that, third....check that again.....No more chances. The only thing dying faster than the old codgers dictating things is the town itself......Geez, I hope I can find a sucker to buy my house soon so I can leave !! WTF are ya gonna do....the crap never ends !!

heard jane and claude on talk radio this morning talking about a big event for downtown and it was a jack-o-lantern carving contest?????? not one word about a bikes, blues, and barbeque style event that could put fort smith moving in the right direction! are these people completely brain dead while drawing their 100,000 dollar plus salaries? not one word from them about a huge event that could get fort smith moving and creating jobs. DUH again from the pay check takers.

Don't give them the chance. Fire them now. It is too little too late to compensate for all the economic suffering which could have been prevented.

I think 'last refuge' is what you meant...Even more accurate "the last hide-out for corruption. Fort Smith is a hole in the wall. Nobody knows or cares enough from the outside. So, it is the perfect place to pull-off all the shady dealings, compliments of the taxpayers.

you are 100% correct that the word should have been "refuge" and it should be their last chance to "refuse" to do the right thing and get the fort smith economy moving! fire any public official that does not work in the best interest of the people of the city! thank you.

most of our city leaders spend all of their time telling each other how great they are and that's why nothing ever gets accomplished? just my theory.

we all know why fort smith has not had great events for the people so hopefully the city leaders will be smart enough to encourage the right people to get "er done"! someone said that the "snowman" is working on an event to make "fort smith proud"
