the bikes, blues, and barbeque event has been reported to bring in about 250 million dollars to fayetteville and the local merchants around fayetteville. why do fort smith city leaders reject this event? it has been reported that jane with downtown development said no, mayor sanders has said no, the city administrator has said no, and the parks department has said no! does anyone know why these city leaders would say no to an event that would bring a quarter of a billion dollars of commerce to the business people of fort smith??? have these city leaders lost their minds or do they think that they can just keep raising taxes on the people of fort smith? get with it boys or you will be replaced with real people that know how to get the job done. whats wrong with fort smith?

it was also reported the the A/P commission rejected the event also so whats up with the A/P and don't forget that mayor sanders is the on the board of the A/P commission. what are these people thinking and why would they not want to bring up to 250 million dollars of business to fort smith?

You are such a liar. Claude didn't even live in Fort Smith when BBB was started. Jane was not working for the city and Sanders was still working at Whirpool.

The fact is, Mr. Hamel is that the Fort Smith officials who rejected BBB were the same ones who had a contract with C&H Tire to service police vechicles. You loved them then. In fact you didn't turn on the city until you lost that contract. Sour grapes from a bitter old man.

that's a good one Richie parkringer! you just proved how stupid you really are! the real question is, whats wrong with fort smith ciy leadership when they screw up a 250 million dollar bonanza for fort smith business and then climb into bed with a Tulsa company under investigation by the FBI for making payoffs for construction contracts? did you get your new rolex watch?

the bikes, blues and barbeque event in fayetteville brings over 400,000 people to fayetteville that spend an average of 250 to 350 dollars per person in that community so do the math and then count the dollars generated by the event moving around the community. the dollar influx into that community is enormous by any standard. years ago fort smith had a car show on garrison ave that brought as many as 5000 people to fort smith and the economic impact on the city just from that event was huge so why can't someone in fort smith use a little imagination and come up with a community event that would draw the same quality and quanity of visitors to fort smith? it has been reported that the idea of a bikes, blues, and barbeque event has been presented several times recently to mayor sanders, ray gosack, claude legris, jane hughes, and mike alsup, only to be rejected and dismissed. why? if fayetteville can bring 400,000 visitors or more to their city with a great popular event, then why can't the people who are being paid big bucks to promote fort smith get the job done? all of the people mentioned above are free to comment on topix as to why they can't get it done in fort smith but they remain quiet! well mr legris whats your problem? well ms jane, whats your problem? well mr mayor, whats your problem? well mr administrator, what your problem? well mr alsup, whats your problem? my thinking is that certain people don't want fort smith to succeed so they can keep the people down and dependent on the city leaders for a handout from city government. does anyone else have an idea as to why fort smith leadership does not promote their own city? fayetteville as a city spends 50% less than fort smith city leadership and is far more successful in promoting their city and funding a growth rate of about 30%! what is wrong with the leadership in fort smith and what is wrong with the people that are being paid big tax dollars to promote our city?

400,000 people at the mean of 300.00 dollars spent per person amounts to 120 million dollars period. if we use claude legris standard of measurement for economic impact on the community of 7 to 1 than the economic impact on fayetteville is 840 million dollars and those numbers are from claude legris who makes the claim to support the convention center spending. now what say you claude? could you get it done for the people of fort smith?

half the city of fort smith will visit bikes, blues, and barbeque this week. the right person in charge of the A/P and downtown development in fort smith should be bringing people down the hill to fort smith. we need someone with a creative mind to create special events for fort smith because the current bunch can't get it done!

when they wanted a Casino in fort smith the chant was "not in my town". when jane, ray, sandy, and claude were approached year after year to just support a similar event in fort smith, they turned a deaf ear. its a proven fact that when idiots are involved, you can count on colossal failure!
