Add the red light cameras, and I'll just avoid driving in Chelmsford - go ahead, and hurt the businesses in your town!

Cool!!!! now we can lay off some more Chelmsford Police, why would they be needed if everything is automated? They can also put some fast food restaurants right next to the police station so they wont have to leave their chairs while looking at the pictures.
No health care to pay for their families, no Union Contracts to deal with, the savings are tremendous.. Just walk everywhere though...

Too many crazy drivers here in Chelmsford. I'm sick of seeing idiots blow through red lights. The cops can't be everywhere.

I can't wait for the red light tickets to start getting mailed out!

So you decide where to shop based on whether you can run red lights there? Interesting.

Some towns have found that the ticket revenue doesn't justify the cost. At least one has decided to remove them.

Worse, some towns shorten the yellow light time to increase the number of tickets. In addition to being dangerous, this is also illegal.

Then there's the privacy issue.

We dont need red light cameras. We need a red light district.

It must mean that you can blow through red lights when police are not around and that it is your private business to do so if you consider yourself above the law.

Um...in this state an officer has to hand you the ticket in hand....
Therefore redlight cameras would be moot!

I hope they put the cameras in. Whenever a light turns red in the Lowell and Chelmsford areas you see another four cars blow through it. As someone pointed out earlier you don't see that much up in New Hampshire. That is because they do a much better job of traffic law enforcement up there. I never see four cars blow through a red light on Main St. in Nashua. The police there WILL stop you and write out a ticket. It is a deterrent.
