Would anyone give a good location to go fossil hunting. I'm taking my little cousins out of the house to get them away from the xbox and would like this to be a positive experience and not come home empty handed. I've been over by monster lake but personally haven't found anything. So any suggestions would be much appreciated.

mazon creek is a very good place but it has become quite a feat just getting into the creek. nobody lets you park at the bridges and some of the people who have homes on the creek think they own it and ask you to leave. it is tec. a river and i don't think you can "own" a river bottom. good luck on your hunting

I happen to live on a creek and know for a fact that the law states that creek/river bottom is the property of homeowners unless it is a "navigable" waterway. I have shagged plenty of people off of my creek! Just because we have nice property and happen to be fortunate enough to live on the water doesn't entitle you to use it. Would you like it if I set up my tent in your backyard because it looked like a good place to camp? Now, that being said...if someone knocks on my door and asks first...I've never said no! Fish away, Fossil hunt away! Just be polite and ask permission!

Have you tied other areas of Mazonia fish and wildlife area? I have found a few but you are suppose to report them if found. I like it there because its a large area and lots of nature.

to the person that was kind enough to offer access to his creek, do you know if that portion of the creek on your property has given up any fossils? I am old enough to know better, but would like to look for fossils before I am classified as one. My wife and one daughter claim they would try as well. We have friends in Morris that may join us. If we wanted to do this, would you be so kind to share your address? We are all mature and responsible adults and would be respectful and appreciative of your offer. If willing, email at [email protected] Thanks.

Mazon creek is navigable all the way to the il. River by boat you silly fool. You own nothing beyond your yard don't act like you own the river, which last I checked it was called the mazon river. I would like to know who you think you are to tell anybody to stay off of public property. Also the state owns what's know as an easement so that means anybody in the world can walk in on top or down the edge of your mazon river. Power tripper find a hobby.
