Are there specific times for burning in Braidwood? I live around Cermak. There has been someone in the neighborhood who has been cutting down trees and burning since Sunday. We cannot open the windows because of the smoke. It also smells like burning tires. It is now 8 o'clock at night and they are still using a chainsaw. No respect for their neighbors!!!

Correct with the times, But.. The problem is that the fire can smolder after the ending times, the person who set it just can't add anything to it. If they are burning brush, leaves or grass it can smolder for a few hours, and that is what people can't stand. But, it's all about the way the ordinance is worded.

The time are correct, but if your neibor has a fire going, it doesnt matter if it smoldering or not, they can get a ticket. The cops usually wont come on there own, but if someone calls, they have to respond. Usualy the first time is a warning, and the 2nd time is a pea ticket. If the person wont put out the fire, the cop will call the fire department to come do it.

Instead of instantly calling on your neighbor, why don't you try and ask them to burn during the hours stated by the town? Now, if they're an ass about the situation, then you call, but at least try to be the "better" neighbor and adult first. Just sayin

I live on Cermak. There has been burning for the past week. The fire smolders even during the no-burning time. My house smells like smoke even with the windows closed. I saw the cops at the person's house last week. So, someone got sick of it and called. The chainsaw has also been running alot. This is ridiculous!!!

A fire after burning hours is called a bonfire/campfire. Are those illegal in Braidwood too? It's spring people!!! Let people burn and quit complaining all the time!!

No, this is not a bonfire. They have been cutting these trees down for over a week now. There was so much smoke by my house that it looked like fog. The chainsaw was not bad at first, after hearing for a week and a half it gets old!!!

When the police came to my house, I had a fire burning in my fire pit, just logs that where split with a splitter. It was around 9 at night, on my patio, not hurting anyone. Barney shows up and said someone called and complained. I had 2 choices. 1. put it out myself. 0r 2. He would call the fire department to put it out and I would reveice a $50 ticket.

I would have pissed on the fire! People need to leave others alone to live their lives to their choice. Don;t like the smell, close your windows and shut the f@@@ up.

Someone stuck the ugly stick up your butt and it's probably coming out your mouth making you talk this nasty trash. It's fun to have controlled fires outside and my child LOVES them! Where's your sense of FUN?

A bon fire in a fire pit is still burning. They can and will ticket you for burning anything after burning hours. We had an officer stop out cause he saw a fire in the back, and my husband out there. He said that if there had been more ppl around the fire, he wouldn't have stopped but it looked big and with only 1 person out side he stopped to "remind" us of the burning hours. When I asked about camp fires with our kids, he said unless someone places a complaint, they will come out and we will get a ticket. The police do not make the ordinances, the just enforce them.
