I have been offered a job in Bradenton. I have been researching the area and I have found so many negative remarks about the area.
Why do so many people dislike Bradenton so much?
Are the gangs that powerful?
Is the entire area unsafe?
Thank you in advance

This is just my opinion...
Bradenton used to be a wonderful community~~safe, laid-back, good schools, a great place to raise kids. The beaches have always been some of the best on the West Coast...that could change with the oil spill crisis. Crime was almost non-exsistent, especially violent crime.
Are the gangs powerful? You bet they are~~and they know it. Desoto Square Mall is on the verge of closing because of crime and gang activity. Most families in Bradenton travel to other counties to shop because it is safer, such as Sarasota.
No, not all areas are dangerous, just most of them. It really all depends on how much money you have, but even the well-heeled have to venture out every now and then, then all bets are off.
Considering the low wages (if you can find a job) the cost of living is extremely high. The cost of electricity alone, will make your hair stand on end.
Do your homework, research and proceed with cautious before obligating yourself. Some have moved to Bradenton thinking it was going to be paradise, then found out it is hell~~especially retired folks.
Good luck...

Bradenton and Manatee County have always been looked down on by people in Sarasota. The main thoroughfare (US41) is trashy right on down to the river.

I was born in Bradenton, back when it used to be safe.. The bad part of town was "Out East" but now its moving rather quickly westward.... It really just depends what you are, to how bad it is...I live in a VERY GOOD part of town and I still keep a loaded AR-15 in reach....

Most of B'ton is not close to the beach. There's one road (Cortez) out to the Manatee County beaches and it's long and congested.

Look it up on urban dictionary.com . You will see why they call it Bradentucky. And Bradenton just blends right into Sarasota, all the same place on that street
