I too have to sy about Tampa Jag that there customer service sucks. I did not but from them. But I own a 2000 XJ8 and live in Ocala. I e-mailed them about bringing my car in for the 50K service. They never answered me. I guess they do not need my buisness.

I have also had bad experiences at Jaguar of Tampa, based on a hand written from the service manager to the consumer complaint in Tallahassee.
I have a 1995 Jaguar XJ6 that has always been serviced by Jaguar, but Jaguar of Tampa has the worst service department Mechanics and service advisors.
Don't take your car there for service if you can avoid it, your car may come back worst then it went in.

There are privateers who work on these models that would be happy to have your business..... The dealerships only want you on the front end when you are paying BIG BUCKS for the most notorious break down car every sold.... and then they don't want to service them.... nice cars... but will NEVER ever own one. I have seen far too many of my friends deal with the many issues involved.....

I looked at a car at Jaguar of Tampa .. I was Psyically asualleted and the key to my Rolls-Royce was destroyed due to an over reaction of Rob Elder and the Used car Manager Rob Mckinnon. Not only did I but my car elsewhere, My friends have bought their cars else where too. I tried to solve the problem, and Mr. Elder tells everyone how right he is by assulting people. I won't rest until this case is brought to court

Please refer to my Hillsborough County arrest record. No one at Jaguar of Tampa did anything to me. I took one of their cars for an extended test drive and gave them disconnected phone numbers so they couldn't find me. I also used a fake German accent when I was visiting the dealership. You can see from my arrest record that I have a few "Grand Theft Auto" arrests and now I understand why Jaguar of Tampa came and picked up their car. They do have an excellent dealership and if I could buy a car, I would purchase it from them. By the way, you can review my arrest record at the following links:

I have purchased 5 cars from Rob, Brian and Company. I have always been pleased. Scott and now Maggie in service have always taken care of me. I would encourage you to look at the things that a Dealership can't control, such as Jaguar's policy on warranty items. I have never seen anyone happy about having to pay for a repair. I have over the years and five Jags, never paid for anything but brake jobs, service and the things I screwed up on my own.

Is the same as all car dealerships, smoke & mirrors and if their lips are moving their lying. We all know car dealers are crooked play bait and switch games with one goal and that is to screw you. When you drive off the lot their bragging I got a 5 pounder he is buried. They steal your trade by appraising your car 2 grand behind rough Black book and then resell it for 5-6 grand more than they gave you. Never let a dealer find you financing they bump the rate so you pay more intrest so they make more money. Not only that they try to sell you a extended warranty paint protection gap insurance credit life its all backend money more profit for them. Go to a credit union and get a loan and any additional products listed above and saves many thousands of dollars. Remember the dealer is there for one thing and that is to get your money, he is not your friend. Remember he is making money off the car he sold you and making money off of the car you traded making interest money if you finance through him and making money off of any products the F&I Manager can sell you. Why give the dealer thousands of dollars profit when you can keep it in your pocket. Think when buying a car the guy in front of you is not your friend his smile is a smile of knowing he is going to make a lot of money off of you.

I am just amazed and sickened over the horrible and slanderous allegations made against Jaguar of Tampa. Never once did I get the run-around........in fact, quite the opposite. Frank my service advisor actually found ways to keep charges off of my bill. He warrantied things that I thought would be 'customer pay' and kept me abreat of all situations. This is not a Toyota or Chevy or Ford store where advisors herd customers intn o a waiting area like cattle. True, Maggie is a little slow and the service manager is always out of his office doing erands around the dealership but all in all, nowhere else will you get the attention like you will here. Ever been to Mercedes of Tampa? I would not lett my dog sleep in the waiting rooms. Wall paper falling off, broken toilets, filthy atmosphere....geez

As I write this from my home north of the dealership, I must warn readers that a few of these comments were made by competing dealers or just plain punks that need attitude adjustment. This is a first class run dealership, a store that proudly shares the Elder name, a store that makes the customer NUMBER ONE above all other things. The Rolls Royce comment is bogus and efforts are being made to track down this culprit as the Hillsborough Co Sheriff Dept has narrowed his URL down to a block of homes in the Tampa area.
Secondly, I pride myself on hiring the best help I can find. The service writers that I have employed are by far the most caring people I have ever seen. My sales staff is very non-confrontational and will help you in every way possible. If you have a problem, come and see me and I will walk you through each and every sales process. I do not mind. I will offer you cold refreshments, coffee, or even give you a lunch or dinner voucher at Carabbas/Outback/Flemings if your sales experience keeps you here during meal hours. Please give us a try and disregard those hateful and untrue comments posted earlier. We have many, many happy customers here that do not want to go anywhere else to purchase a vehicle. The dealership will exceed your standards unlike other new stores in the area. Like the customer said in a previous comment, "have you ever been to Mercedes on Dale Mabry"? This alone will make you believe that this IS the best dealership in Tampa. Thank you. Regards.......Brian

I happened upon this blog and find it interesting that people are so slanderous. It is easy to see the clarity through the clouds. We too (after being in business for almost 20 years) suffer from people that just want to complain, outright lie, and just want to hurt others.
Rob Elder is a personal friend of mine and our company buys parts from Jaguar of Tampa. They have always been professional and courteous. Even though he is a friend I would not do business with them if I thought they were less than honorable. Judge for yourself. If you are a serious buyer and are considering the purchase of a new car you should at least try them out.
Rob Elder is also one of the most charitable people in Tampa. I have thrown many charity events and Jaguar of Tampa has always been a willing participant. That is worth its weight in Gold in my opinion.

It is funny that I ran across this blog. When I went to Tampa Jaguar to look at a used Jaguar, I was treated awful by the salesman. I was not dressed like a Jaguar owner and the salesman brushed me off. It was his lost. I went to Miami Jaguar the next day a bought my X. They were very friendly and gave me a great trade in on my car. they have been very good with follow after the sale.

It IS funny that you found this blog!
So you left Tampa and drove to Miami to look for a X type?
Did Crown in Clearwater, Jag of Naples, Jag of Sarasota, and Jag of Ft. Myers all treat you poorly too? I mean you drove by them to get to Miami, the next day?
You set off the "crap meter".
Jag of Tampa has been nothing but professional in all of my dealings with them and I doubt I dress like what you consider a "jaguar owner"?

I own a '95 XJS convertible 4.0. A terrific trouble free car that has been more reliable than my Cadillac. I've bought parts from Jaguar of Tampa a few times and I've always been treated courteously by a professional and knowledgable parts staff. I haven't had an opportunity to utilize their service department as I maintain and repair my car myself (I do know what I'm doing), but based on my experiences with the parts department I won't hesitate to call on the service department if I ever need to AND if they have a tech who is knowledgeable about XJSs. Oh, I bought my XJS over the XK8 because I prefer the "pace with grace" XJS over the modern sports car feel of the XK8.

I am apalled at the bad spelling and foul language that all these illiterates use.

Clearly, that must be a bad mood disease in Tampa. What a horrible place it must be. Lot of discontents and sickos.

As to Jaguar of Tampa, I've never done business with them, bso I cannot accuse them of anything, but based on what I read here, there is obviously a problem there, otherwise why would anyone have to complain?

As to the writer who talks about Jaguar but has never owned one, obviously doesn't know what he is talking about and is talking out of his Brutus Maximus.

I own two classic Jaguar, a 1984 and a 1965 (for the last 19 and 7 years) and they have been the most reliable cars I ever owned. Can't say the same for the post 1987 Jaguar because I have never owned one.

Some people just can't deal with exotic cars and that's why they drive disposable cars like Toyotas. A Jaguar is for keeps.

Reading all this I have to throw in my two-cents... Regarding the guy from Lake Mary, if you have no personal experience don't jump to conclusions. I bought my first Jag from Jag of Tampa - it was two years old when purchased and I was always treated great by the service department. My second Jag was leased new from Crown in St. Pete as jag of Tampa did not offer as good a deal at the time. But, all my service was done in Tampa and I had very good experiences every time there. Frank is outstanding and even remembered me from my previous car. You cannot please all the people all the time... and it seems there are many more positive remarks here than negative. Couple that with the fact that people with positive experiences don't typically seek out places to make comments. So, only the small percent who are unhappy get their feelings on a blog. I found this site while looking to see what Jag of Tampa has on their lot. My wife is looking for a new car and we'll be vititing Jag of Tampa today! All that said, we'll probably end up with a BMW as that's her preference...

why would any7one want to buy a USED jag? If you cant afford one, you might need to go back to a ford. taurus.afterall, a ford taurus is a jag with a extra chrome package.
