I live in Jonesboro and was friends with Jimbo many years ago. I'd like to get in touch with him again. We talked on the phone a few times last year and then lost contact again. What could possibly be messed up about asking for help in locating an old friend? I mean, is this forum reserved soley for gossip, slander, innuendo, mud-slinging and "isms?" I would post something similar in a city newspaper classified, but I feel like there are VERY, very few of us that still expend the energy to seek our news in that format.

Please let me know what you find so "messed up" about my post.

Come on man, you are looking for a guy that is a gay hair stylist that lives in mid town and hangs out at a known gay bar/restaurant. You are a chef that posts on gay rights boards. I think you can see where the guy was coming from.

Thanks for your response. I appreciate it. It really does make sense. Careful, though, with your assumptions...I don't think most people would consider Neil's a gay bar (granted, I don't live in Memphis and can't speak for the mind of the community) and I don't seek to post on gay rights boards as I don't, in the most literal sense, believe in "gay rights." The whole concept of "rights" annoys me. Freedoms, perhaps, but not necessarily rights. In my humble opinion, no minority group should have some separate, distinct set of rights aside from those of the majority. WHOA! That's an entirely new thread isn't it! Thanks, though, for giving me something to chew on with my morning coffee!!!

I am genuinely sorry that I have apparently misinterpreted your remarks. I apologize for misunderstanding. I felt as though I was being verbally attacked and became overly defensive. It is a fault of mine. I'll readily agree with you about some folks running their mouths (or fingers on the keyboard) particularly on threads where their knowledge is clearly lacking or their reason for participating in the discussion is simply to annoy (or even verbally assault) others. What's the point of that?!

Aside from all that, This is apparently not a forum that will help me in my search to reconnect with an old friend. I guess if the good Lord means for our paths to cross again they will and I'm just going to leave it up to Him from here on out.
