The issue of adding Braceville into the name of the high school. From being a former student there, I vote NO!! For many years, the Braceville name was not good enough; however, our money is. I say we pull out of the GSW High School District and merge on with the Coal City School District. The Braceville students were always spit on, being told that they will never amount to anything. Well, my Braceville students have gone one to become Doctors, Lawyers, Judges, and many retain high titles with their careers. I feel that to give every Braceville student the education and guidance that he or she needs, we need to attend Coal City High School.

The High School District will fight like hell to keep the students from Braceville there. WHY? Because the school district could not afford to operate without the tax dollars from Braceville. In other words, they would be forced to close their doors and become a consolidated district with Dwight. I would be willing to bet that if enough state legislators were approached on how the state could save money by consolidating Gardner into Dwight High School and help Dwight retain the tax revenue they will lose from Dwight Prison closing, you would have many ears listening. I mean what the hell, what does Gardner High School have to offer its students anyway?

Why do you believe that all of the residents of Braceville are not intelligent are unable to amout to something. There are well educated residents of Braceville and numerous residents have went on to become something. Not all towns are great. Each town has its issues, such as drugs, gangs, and etc. We cannot control who moves into our town. For the trouble kids who cause issues, well that stems from home. If it is really an issues, the teachers should be able to discipline the students. Just because someone is from Braceville, does not mean they should be discriminated against. I can name a few from the surrounding areas that could not pass a basic 100 level college course at a junior college.
