I can't believe that no one in Braceville will speak out about the rates we are being charged or the poor quality of water we recieve in our homes.
Makes me sad that I have lived here 38 years.

Easy question to answer. The majority of the questioneers were ignored or round filed and not returned to our water commish. Without them being returned to the commish he has no way of recieving state or federal funding for improvements due to a lack of being able to prove to those agencies that the improvments are needed.
Residents closest to the water tower have no problems with their H2O , however, the further away you reside from the tower, the problems start, and if you should live on a street where the water line dead ends and does not recirculate then your problems can be enormous.
Sorry if I ofended you.

I don't know how often you read the Braceville topix
but it amazes me how few replies or topics are actually posted by Braceville residents. Just an afterthought.
Stinky water cares

I don't know about the water being any better near the water tower! We live and have lived in Bville for 13 years now and our water has NEVER been good! It smells, it used to have black chunks and sludge come out every once in awhile, now it's yellow and smells after or during the rain! We live about 2 blocks from the water tower! So I don't know what the problem is with the water, but I agree-nothing is going to get done. I have even contacted investigative reports on all 3 major networks in Chicago and NOTHING has been done. We definitely don't drink it..don't feed it to our dog..etc. All we do is shower in which grosses me out enough! Sometimes I have to redo a load of laundry 3-4 times to get the "yellow/brownish" stain the water has put on my clothes and luckily it washes out! As far as the water prices...they should be according to usage since some people have pools and big families and use much more water than my husband and I! Why should we pay the same? Why should you pay the different/more even than we pay? Makes no sense. I hate this town...and have since we moved here. Can't wait until the housing market gets better so we can move out!

just spent $7000.00 for a water treatment system and ro water from a private company. best money i have spent in 30 years of living here. next project is to sink my own well like my nieghbor did. braceville won't take care of their residents so we have to do it ourselfs'. if enough people sink their own wells and maintain them and stop paying the village for piss-poor water then maybe, just maybe, village officials would sit up and notice a revenue shortage. but then they would most likely do something stupid like outlaw private wells. that would be cheaper for them then fixing their water problems.

WOW Gary its sad to see you have to do all this just to get good water from the city that we pay are hard earned dollars for. It scared me the other day when i used my outside water and a bunch of black crap came out of it them my toliet did the same thing. I hope you checked into the legal aspect of putting in your own well because that happened to me at another place of mine where we could not run a well next to sewage lines so make sure you check into it.Maybe we could start a petition and get enough neighbors to sign it. If we can show more than half the people in the town are not happy with there quality of water we can get other agencies involved like public health. Just a though but i would be willing to take the petition around the neighborhood and see what everyone else thinks.

sorry it took you almost a year to understand what i have been saying all along. but glad you finally understand. on the side of the street i live on is grundy cty. not village limits so, since they do supply us with village water they also charge us 100% more then you for the same lousy services. my next door neighbor sank his own private well more then 2 years ago, sent samples in to have it checked and came back with no problems. i have seen it and tasted it. a hell of a lot better then city water. if you sink a well you have to be at least 300 feet away from a neighbors septic system. i know the water commish and he has the same problems as us. he has done the research for grants but is lacking village residents support. if you need help with a pettion, glad to help. like you, got tired of black specs, rust, and gel particles, and smell in water. my water tested so bad i had to have an extra tank installed for my private water treatment system ( not a water softener ) to clean it up. i have my own treatment system, but it is not cheap. but in the long run it is cheaper a month then 6 to 8 five gallons of water from culligan and the price of gas to go get them. and finally, i have really CLEAN CLOTHES AGAIN and even save money on clothes softeners and maintenance on things like water fixtures, hot water heater, clothes washer.

I had to have an extra filter tank especially designed to remove lead to my above mentioned water treatment system when I purchesed it.
Sorry you are just now finding out about it.
When I first had my water tested the lead took about 30 drops of reagent to clear it , whereas a normal household would only take about 12 drops.

He has been in charge of our water for atleast 5 of the last 10 years that I know of. Very little improvment if any. Maybe instead of have a common name be mayor we should go for common sense and listen to the candidates and what we as a town need, not what some ones Dad will find to be benificial I personally will be voting NO for Harvey for mayor/any part of the village board.

Got to admit,$26 a month for water no matter how much or little you use is bogus. Why have a meter? They did build a nice new office instead of getting quality drinking water. Priority? Need new well? New pipes? New Mayor?
