I HAD considered voting for Foley until I got the mailing showing him deceled out in the trooper garb. He's fed from the trough long enough, lets vote in a new porker for the position.

So under normal retirement rules he'd only be allowed to make the difference plus $5k? Isn't that only $16,000 salary or is my math off? Because it's an elected position, he's exempt? So here in MA if you've earned a pension and get a private sector job that ADDS to the economy you have to abide by the rules or lose your pension, but if you suck off the tax payers as an elected official, you're exempt?

Am I the only one that sees a problem with this? Foley knows this is immoral even though the elite legislators here in MA have legislated it to be legal. This is the problem with MA and why we are facing a $2billion deficit. It is why our debt to GDP ratio is 2nd worst in the NATION. We, as voters, need to be te ones to speak up and say this IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. Do not allow this gross insult to sensibility to go on.

This is an utter disgrace!!

Not only has he fed off the trough, using state issued uniforms in a campaign advertisement is a clear campaign ethics violation. He should know this! Where is Martha Coakley on this one?

Is she giving him a pass because they're buddies? More ethics violations from the man vying to be the sheriff? Not in my county!!!

I wish he would stop calling this a pension! It is a TAX-FREE DISABILITY OF $112.000.00 PER YEAR!Now he wants to make another $93,000.00? You do the math.

I have been begging someone to discredit Foley's ability to run the jail... PLEASE someone come up with a legitimate reason why he wouldn't make the BEST sheriff.... PLEASE

Are we worried about safety or a couple extra thousand, that I'm sure he will trim off the bloated budget as soon as he's elected anyways

I think the problem is the arrogance of someone who has no problem holding himself to a different set of rules than the general public. This is a problem for the PEOPLE who are struggling trying to make ends meet and having this man up there double dipping and not following the same rules as everyone else. That's BS.

He has no experience running a jail. He worked on the team that chased Whitey Bulger whoop D doo!!! He has a heart disability. He couldn't hack the job at the desk job at the state police and now he wants us to think that he can handle the jail? Sorry but that doesn't pass any smell test that I can find.

I'd be happy to give you a reason to discredit him. Problem is I listened to him talk at an event about a month ago and the only thing he talked about was his PAST accomplishments withoutsaying anything at all about his plans for the Sheriff's office. OK, so he has proven himself as a good manager as a retired LT COL in the state police. I have a proven leadership management skills as a Retired Naval Officer, that doesn't mean I'd be any good running the jail. TELL him to stop living on his past glories and I'll reconsider.

It is a pension, the money he put into the retirement system has already been taxed. The only way he could collect his pension before his retirement age was to go out on disability.

Do you have any reasons WHY he WOULD make the BEST sheriff? Of course you don't or you would have answered this already.

Sorry, I still haven't figured out who I'm voting for between Bove, Evangelidis and Nicholas as they all have similar stances but I know one thing...it WILL NOT be Tom Foley. He has no respect for the people of this county by his flagrant abuse of the pension system. This is so typical of Massachusetts politicians and I refuse to accept it's continuance.

So, you're admitting that he's been cheating the system?

He worked for his pension, which has already been taxed, he had a heart problem which FORCED him to retire early, there for making him eligiable for his pension. How is he cheating the system, if anyone has cheated the system it would be Bove, I know I worked with the hack for 15 years, he has a free ride the whole time, cushy desk jobs, promotions all because daddy was Flynns chief deputy and campaign manager.

One more point, I don't know Foley or the other 2 canidates, I don't live in Worcester County anymore so I can't vote. But I do know the Jail and Bove, Scot maybe a nice guy but he never earned any of his positions or promotions. He is by far Sheriff material. I do know what it's going to take to turn that jail around and that is someone like Foley.

He was also cleared by a doctor to run and be Sheriff, he is also past the manditory retirement age for the SP. the jail has no manditory retirement age.
