Judged: 1 This is the same BS the unions trot out every gubernatorial election. In order to get ANY badly needed cuts to the bloated state budget, you have to propose them all over the budget. This state legistature is run by Dems 700-1 and they will veto the hell out of any budget cuts. A republican governor will have some of a bully pulpit coming out of an election where the dems have to let a few of the cuts slide through. If not they risk losing seats. One question, do you agree there is items that could use cutting in the budget or do you think there should be increased spending? |

Judged: 1 1 Cut the aid to the illegals,,,,and reform welfare, cut it by 75%,,,we would have a budget surplus!!! |

Judged: 1 1 Lets be straight about this, the mass taxpayers foundation is run by Michael Widmer, a former Dukakis hack and reporter for the leftist UPI. The foundation has championed every tax increase and fought every tax cut for the last 20 years. Dont let their deceptive name fool you. http://cltg.org/mtf_trojan_horse.html Or... just look at their own words http://www.masstaxpayers.org/ Anyone who thinks our taxes are too high will, after looking at these links, know that the MTF is no friend to the taxpayer. |

Dont get nervous about "trojan horse" on the link haha. Its not a virus, just the title of the collection.

Judged: 1 1 Well lets break it down cut welfare 75% you'll have to redirect the funds to police because crime would rise. Cut aid to illegals OK I can see that somewhat but that depends on what "aid" is. Health care to keep illegals healthy may in an indirect way keep us all healthy in terms of disease control, other aid yeah the ilegals did not pay in so that's fine but remember they are here for jobs WE WONT ACCEPT. |

Judged: 1 1 OK so the budget is too big why don't we play Governor... what do we cut? There is a plethora of choices...where to cut kids education? no State police? not with a welfare cut. Every state program provides some service look at adams. We could run with 2/3 of the police, 2/3 dpw, and no library, that would save money. We'd have crime increase for a while and our roads would not be repaired or plowed like they were and we'd put those people out of work. |

Judged: 1 1 1 For starters as I stated previously, we can change state employees benefits to reflect what is on offer in the private sector. That would be a massive savings right there. We can shut down some of the underused courts in the state. We can trim bureaucrats across all state agencies. Privatize the masspike like they do in indiana, which would put alot of hacks into the private sector and see what it is to work for a living. Believe me when i say we can trim bureaucrats, ive worked in a state agency in the past. We could also cancel redundancies in our services and of course comprehensive welfare reform. Im just thinking off the top of my head right now, I could find more. Still, despite what I call a deceptive and inept Patrick administration, I havent been wooed by Baker yet either. Seems like we need 2 parties in the legislature to get this state to what it needs to be. |

Judged: 1 1 1 Governor Deval Patrick and Lt. Governor Tim Murray are leading Massachusetts out of this recession faster and stronger than other states by creating the jobs of today and tomorrow right here in our Commonwealth, protecting education, extending health coverage to 97% of our residents, investing in clean energy and life sciences, and expanding services for our veterans. While there is a long way to go, the progress is real. And when it comes to Stoughton, Governor Patrick and Lt. Governor Murray have been exceptional and visible partners. They’ve invested in our kids’ schools:  Directed more than $1.86 million in recovery funding to support school budgets in Stoughton in order to retain teachers and staff.  Awarded more than $1 million to Stoughton to provide special education opportunities to students with disabilities in Stoughton.  Directed $253,833 towards the education of Stoughton students most at risk of failing to meet state academic standards.  Allocated an expected $241,411 to Stoughton to encourage effective educational reform as part of the Race to the Top initiative. They’ve invested in our town and its people:  Directed more than $10 million of stimulus funding to support social safety net programs in Stoughton, such as low-income housing support and unemployment assistance. They’ve invested in our public safety:  Awarded $104,000 in Municipal Firefighting grants to Stoughton that allowed the town to retain 17 firefighters. They’ve invested in Stoughton’s infrastructure:  Committed more than $5.71 million to resurfacing and related work on Route 24 in Stoughton. They’ve invested in making Stoughton a leader in energy efficiency:  Allocated $92,295 to Stoughton for the Weatherization Assistance Program to increase the energy efficiency of homes in the community |
