- Public Directives by Governor - In an attempt to stimulate educational & "teleworking" development in rural Virginia, the Governor of Virginia has directed public bodies to work WITH attempts by entrepreneurial companies to provide services. The Town's elected officials have not acted & likely are not even made aware of the directive because they aren't staying current with the technology news within the State. The ability of always on, high speed internet access means residents & businesses will be able to access information faster & more cheaply through healthy competition. Local businesses that compete for the best service benefit the Town because other businesses will look to locate personnel there. The acts thus far have prevented increases in revenue, both direct & indirect, by impeding progress into a favorable information environment.
It is time that the Town of Boydton officals are confronted over preventing wireless competion in the Town of Boydton & why publicly owned structures are not available to even the highest bidder(s)?
Call Mayor Reamy at 7 3 8.6 3 4 4 x21 & ask him why he refuses to act in the public interest of the Town of Boydton?
There is a public meeting tonight at 7:30PM September 11th 2007 in th Boydton Town Hall...
I'd love to hear the reasons why... There is more to be said but you likely get the picture.
I urge you to act to demand responsible public policy that enhances competition in the community to provide the best service for a fair price, not based on golf course diplomacy...
